In my never ending quest to visit shooting ranges when I go camping, I traveled this past weekend to Hite Hollow Shoot Range. The range is located in the general area of Augusta Springs. It's really two ranges, a rifle/shotgun range and pistol range. Their are 6 lanes at the rifle position and 4(I think) at the pistol position. The rifle range isn't marked for distance put has three cut outs that I would guess(no range finder) to be 50, 100, and 150 yards. The pistol range is about 25 yards. I went on a Saturday and the range began to fill up after lunch. All shooters were nice and safe, as I generally see. Although, looking around I did see an oddly large amount of bullet holes were they don't belong(in signs, ceilings, ect). It's the minority that always has the biggest impact on how firearms owners are perceived. There is a box for donations. If you can, put a couple bucks in, it goes to keeping the range clean and maintained. On that subject, cleanup what you shoot, don't leave any trash on the range, that's just common sense. Sorry I can't join you this month, it's quite the drive for me. I'm going to email to join your notification list. Maybe I can make it out later this year. How big is your turnout most of the time?
(EDIT: Email won't go thru. My email is Jakeiscrazy(at)gmail.com)

Yeah sorry about that email bit. Comcast screwed things up so I've switched email and I'm still tracking the old address down and changing it wherever I find it.

i drove out there over the weekend just to make sure i could find it and to look it over.
seemed pretty nice. talked to 2 really nice fellows on the pistol range. they gave me a good idea of when were good times to go, etc. i'm making plans to go in the near future. considering i'm in the c'ville area, it's not the closest, but the drive is nice and so seemed the atmosphere there.
cheers!

I haven't been to Hites Hollow in a while, but when I have been it's always been pretty nice. I've met a lot of really nice folks there. I just wish others wouldn't shoot up the roof and signs. Stuff like that is what gets good things closed down.
