Hey everyone!

New poster to these boards. Just got my CCW permit in the mail yesterday, and my Rock Island Armory Compact 1911 should be arriving at the store any day now. I'm looking for a good IWB holster for it, but there are so many options! I've heard a lot of good stuff about Milt Sparks, but apparently they have like a 4 months backlog right now.

I'm looking for something that I can wear everyday, tuck a shirt into when need-be, and preferably has snaps for easy on and off. Fist makes something that looks like it fits the bill, but I wasn't sure how stable they would keep my gun. So I guess I also want something with a thumb break, or some other many of retention.

The Bianchi Pro IWB. Has a heavy metal clip...no snaps. Nice thick leather. Rides close to the body and easy to tuck and conceal to fit the requirement. I have 2 and love them...

Another vote for CrossBreed SuperTuck! I cary my Kimber Tactical Ultra II in it, sometimes I forget it's there.

I'd suggest a Rocketman kydex IWB. Its molded to the shape of the gun for some retention, and keeping it concealed adds to the retention.

Thanks for the advice guys! I just purchased a Bianchi Pro and Crossbreed Supertuck. I figure I'll try the Bianchi until the Supertuck gets here and then decide which one I want to keep.

I like the Bianchi cause its easy on easy off...and its easy to slide around on your belt or trousers if you want to make adjustments for driving, etc...one small consideration for the Bianchi is if you get stopped and the LEO wants your weapon you can pull holster and all relatively easy and hand the whole thing over...I'm not too keen on handing over a naked cocked/locked 1911 if they wont let you clear it first...

Well I finally got my pistol. Maybe it's just my new to carry paranoia, but I feel like I'm printing with every single shirt I wear! The Bianchii is very stiff, and I've had to work with it so the whole thing doesn't come out when I draw! I've the most comfortable position thus far is an appendix carry, pretty much dead center of the body (just a little the right of center). I like the hip position more, but it feels very awkward with this holster. Either way though, I'm now concealing! Can't wait for my Supertuck.

The beauty of living in an OC state, is that it doesn't matter!

Unlike other states were you face severe penalties if your firearm shows or even prints, here in VA, the whole gun can be exposed no problem. I find that very comforting. I've often worn OWB/hip holsters with shirts that only cover 75% of the firearm. I.e. the barrel is covered by leather, but the leather pokes out. Almost no one notices because they are all use to cell phones and such being clipped to belts. I'm not sure plastic would work as well.

In fact, that is my favorite way to carry now. Much more comfortable than IWB. Doesn't require super long shirts for OWB. Draw speed seems to be better IMHO. Still CC because almost no one notices.

I've been using a Milt Sparks Versa Max 2 for my Kimber SS Ultra Carry for a decade. It's very comfortable and will last at least a few more decades. You can always order and wait for one while you use one of the others.

I just ordered a crossbreed holster for my kimber compac. has any one used this holster and what do like or dislike about it.

I've heard good things, but haven't used one personally.
