Applied on Sept 28 here in Albemarle myself. Still waiting, and I have to go back to the courthouse when it finally shows up.
Lame.

It's been nearly 5 weeks and I'm still waiting. No reason it should take this long, unless they're purposely drawing it out as a sort of mandatory waiting period.

They have 45 business days to process the CHP. If you do not have it by then, the clerk's office is required to issue you a temporary permit.

I dont think the code says business days...its calendar days...and its not to process - its 45 days to issue unless the court finds reason to deny within the law...

I didn't realize that it was calendar days.

I submitted my paperwork on Oct 6 at Fairfax County Courthouse and got my permit yesterday, Nov 5. The background investigation is dated 10/26, and then was granted 11/1.

The court shall issue the permit and notify the State Police of the issuance of the permit within 45 days of receipt of the completed application unless it is determined that the applicant is disqualified.
To me...that makes it calendar days.

Albemarle Co.
Against all odds, though, I actually got a call from the Court Clerk's Office on Friday afternoon (about 15 minutes before they closed) that my permit was ready. If my counting is correct, that would have been day 38.
Oddly, though, when I picked it up today, I saw that it was dated 10/2, which was 24 days post-application. This leads me to wonder if they'd been holding onto it for no particular reason for an extra 2 weeks. Oh well, I guess.

I turned in my paperwork in Henrico today. The clerk told me it would be ready in 6 weeks. Not UP TO, or ABOUT, but IN 6 weeks. I suppose I'll just forget any possibility of getting it sooner.
