Clear plastic toy gun gets kid expelled for a year??

Looks like the kid had forgotten his clear plastic toy gun, that apparently shoots plastic BB's, was in his backpack. The punishment? "Mandatory expulsion" due to a zero-tolerance gun policy.

Apparently this expulsion might extend into the following school year, too.
Can we say, "overkill"?

Even better: Epic mass-firing of that entire School Board and Superintendent! This is just inexcusable to do to a 7-year-old little boy.
