Anyone know anything about this place? It's not open yet--I saw that the windows were papered over and there was a "coming soon" sign on the door this past weekend. Located off Rio Road West right near the intersection with Seminole Trail, in the little shopping center with the Papa John's store:

I'm very curious about the place, as there seems to be a real shortage of gun shops in this city. Looking forward to when they finally open up--I'll definitely report back after I'm able to stop in.

RUMINT was that this would be a tactical-type shop (the antithesis of Woodbrook, basically), complete with SOT.

Quick update: a friend happened to chat with someone working inside the store yesterday, and he said that the place should be open by the end of the month.

ACF is opening tomorrow, 11/1 with a limited inventory. They will get more inventory as the month progresses.

There's a tactical shop in Harrisonburg, Ashby Arms http://ashbyarms.com/, that's been open since about March of this year. I've heard some of their radio ads on WCHV the past few months. They have a nice selection of pistols and rifles as well as optics. They also carry factory SBR's and several brands of suppressors. The manager/owner is a very knowledgeable former marine and knows his ARs. In case you're looking for another tactical shop in the area you might want to check them out.

I spoke to the owner a few days before they opened and have a recently purchased rifle being transferred through them as I type. They do have a SOT and plan on being a stocking Class 3 shop. They are slowly building stock but already have some pistols and rifles in stock with more to come. Class 1, and I believe Class 3, transfers are 25 bucks and he'll accept transfers from individuals...at least he is for me.

Beware of the guard dogs though, they're the size of a large sandal and just as dangerous:)

$25 for NFA transfers is crazy low, even in a market that has lots of SOTs, which C'ville definitely does not.

(NB: no such thing as a "Class 1 transfer" - class I is a SOT type and covers importers.)

You are correct sir, error in words on my part. Acting as an accepting FFL for individual to individual, out of state, sales of non NFA firearms, not a class 1 transfer.

I visited the shop about 2 weeks ago, last time in there was between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The selection of firearems more than doubled, the other stuff probably more than that, great selection of targets available including some heavy steel. It definitely is more focused on the Tactical/ Home Defense market versus the hunting crowd. The owner is a great guy and asks if there is anything that customers would want that he doesn't carry. I like it an owner seeking input from customers and potential customers. I am hoping that this shop has success.
