Yes I realize a bow is not a firearm but Parker is a VA based company and some of us use their products.

So, Young bought me a nice Parker crossbow package for my birthday. A really great shooter. A couple of Saturdays ago I was down at Henry's place (Vahunter) checking it out for the upcoming season. Spent some time checking it out at 10, 20, 30, and 40 yards. Once I was satisfied with field points (2 inch groups at 40 yards and dead on at lesser ranges) I switched to broadheads to check point of impact. 10 yards was dead on. I set up for a 20 yard shot, sighted in, and squeezed the trigger. *PLONG* I knew immediately from the sound that something went horribly wrong. I looked up from the scope to discover a broken and frayed string plus a loose right limb. My heart sank. Opening day 2 weeks away.

I called Parker and they immediately gave me an RMA. I packed up the bow and sent it to Staunton. Fed-ex reported that my package was signed for at Parker on Thursday at 2:36 PM. When I arrived home Friday afternoon around 5:30 PM there was a UPS sticker on my door notifying me of a signature required delivery from Parker!!!

I may have picked up a lemon from the factory or maybe I did something wrong but Parker stood behind their product and their promise. They were courteous, professional, and prompt.

Great to hear you are a Parker fan. I to have a Parker crossbow and living in the same area as Parker I personally know several of the guys that work there. They are a great bunch of guys and they do make great bows, compound and crossbows alike. I don't know if they told you but you should always check to be sure all of the bolts on your crossbow are tight. Since they do seem to loosen up a bit due to the pressures exerted on a crossbow. I have had mine for 4 years now and have taken a turkey and 5 deer with it and plan to up the total this Saturday if the Good Lord sees fit. I've not had a complaint about mine since day one and I'd buy another one in a heartbeat if the need ever arose. I have 4 friends that I hunt with and all of them have purchased Parker's as well and love them as much as I. Good luck to you this season and I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine.

@DavidG - I'm a Parker fan now! Bolts tight? Do you mean the nocks? Btw, I'm trying to find their recommended procedure for decocking other than firing a bolt. I'm guessing you can use the rope. If you have angle I would appreciate.

@Henry - Maybe them deer wont be so scared of me this year...

I just carry an old bolt with a field point and shoot it in the ground. I'll check and see if I have any more of the barnette bolts and you can have one of them. That's all they are good for.

By bolts tight, I mean all of the screws on the crossbow itself. You'll need a set of hex wrenches or Allen wrenches.And always make sure that all of the bolts are good and snug, don't torque the snot out of them just snug them up good. And as far as decocking goes, Henry has the right idea. I always carry an extra arrow with a field point . Parker doesn't recommend using the string cocker for decocking and they do say to use the method that Henry and I have mentioned. Good luck to you guys, hope you stick a good one.

Thanks, David. I do have a set of allen wrenches. Got them shortly after I unpacked the bow and checked all the screws last night...thanks for the tip...I'll follow you and Henry on decocking.
