Not sure if this is the right place to post these but I thought they would be of interest to some...
Both instances show reasons to protect yourself in your own home. It also shows the randomness of this type of crime and that even out in the country (both close to where I live), these things happen. Home invasions are not just an urban or suburban phenomenon. Fortunately for both intruders, the gun owners showed great restraint and didn't subscribe to the 'shoot first, ask questions later' mentality...

A Spotsylvania County homeowner held a burglary suspect at gunpoint early this morning until a deputy arrived to take him into custody, police said.

Police say a Culpeper man called 911 yesterday with an unusual emergency: He was holding a suspected burglar at gunpoint.
