New Eyes for an Old Gun

Went to the Military expo yesterday and found an upgrade for my SKS. I have been wanting to mount a scope to it for a while now and have looked at the various options such as a side mount or a Scout type of mount over the rear sight. Well I went with the type of mount that replaced the back cover and added the scope rail with a 4x30 scope on it. Here are a couple of photos sorry they are not that good of quality as I took them with my phone camera

and the mount has a look under capability so I can use the fixed sights as well

Next step is the bore sighter and then it is off to go zero it in

I have a set-up like that for my SKS, but took it off and went back to the iron sights. When the scope is on, it blocks the use of stripper clips and I like using the stripper clips to load the gun, so off it came.

I never really sued the stripper clips on this gun just feed them in by hand as it was fairly quick with the 10 round mag, so I am not sure just how much this will bother me loading it yet.

I did see a nice little Red Dot that would go on it nicely while I was there yesterday, and would not block the use of stripper clips so you migh want to think about something like that.

Nice... make sure the ejected shell casings don't hit the scope after your first couple of rounds. Looks like they wont with the scope up off the cover like that. If they do, you can get a deflector. :lovegunporn:
