The Great Gat6 Troll Hunt Contest

Taggure made an interesting observation today. Neither of us can think of a single post by Gat6 which was actually about firearms, range reports, answering firearm question, etc. All of his post are about politics. Gat6 tosses a hand grenade and laughs.

If anyone can find a VGOF post by Gat6 which is primarily focused on firearms, they get one :tinfoil: prop per original post found.

This is going to be a short lived contest...

I'll loose the hounds to find the elusive post that is unlike sand in a vaginer.

I'm suprised trolls last as long they do on here. Most forums dispose of them quickly.

Happy Hunting! :tommygun:

BTW, does his introduction post count? http://vagunforum.net/post24164.html#p24164

Found another that mentions "weapon": http://vagunforum.net/post30532.html#p30532

As thread starter and supreme judge of the Troll Hunt Contest, I'm ruling that the post doesn't count for the following reasons:

1. It really is an extension of the post Taggure listed. I.e. it would haven made no difference if Gat6 posted his thanks in the OP or in a separate post. This rule covers the extreme case of breaking up your questions and posting one word at a time...those aren't separate posts for the purpose of this contest. Please see post whoring for a further explanation.

2. It contains no new firearm related information. In support of this interpretation, the post promises a future firearm related post which to the best of my knowledge has never actually happened.

"6. It was my mistake to think this was a site about all things gun. I originally signed on because I wanted to know where were the best ranges, which gun shops were best, which gun show dealers/tables were the best for purchasing Glocks, AR type weapons, military weapons, ammunition and accessories? Such questions as who has built an AR15, did they start from a stripped lower and upper? Who handled the FLL? Where did they purchase the parts? A gun show? Online? That is why I stayed. There is indeed a great deal of information about many of the topics I was interested in. But I quickly found out there is another side to this site. A side that is totally and completely partisan, where political differences are simply not tolerated. This side of the site conducts a pervasive and sustained personal attack on anyone who does not conform to the party line. It belittles and makes fun of people with different views, and gos to any length to disparage, and attempt to delegitimize the President. It's a world where there are only 2 types of people the right kind, you and the wrong kind everyone else. You feel free to write almost any negative thing about the "wrongs". Then you seem surprised that someone would find much of that offensive."

From January

100% pure and unadulterated politics, pap and detritus since then. Any chance of an ignore feature? ALLIN?

You guys were all over this. I found the same one as Taggure, but I didn't think it qualified. Just talking about thinkin about maybe buying a gun is way to slim to qualify.

Out of all the forums here, the National Politics and General discussion sections are but one small piece. The rest of the site focuses on non-political firearm issues. I personally think the "personal" attacks against Gat6 didn't start until after his flaming. At this point it is just comical, but who am I...

Is this a petition to reduce his award to half a tinfoil?

HEY you can't take my :tinfoil: as Gat6 started that thread with his only Gun related question out of 183 posts. I searched long and hard for it and my mouse finger is sore!!!! :first:

Looking over the original post, the post must "primarily focused on firearms."

It is the official ruling of the supreme Troll Hunting contest board of judges (me), that the tinfoil stands!

To be honest we should post the definition of a Troll

I found this on the following site:
http://freaksaphhic.xanga.com/709682816 ... om-acorns/

A troll is a person (hemhem... or bot) who posts inflammatory, argumentative or offensive content without provocation for the specific purpose of pissing people off and getting a reaction. Idle Hands.

This of course does mean that every person who is *mean to you* is a troll. Nor do most trolls mean you any harm. Trolling is done for the sake of boredom more often than not, and if you ignore, block or refuse to be angered they leave soon enough. But be warned, starting a fight with a troll can lead to battles of epic proportions, and should your troll enemy be one of the particularly menacing variety you may find yourself outwitted, outworded and outwinded. Not to mention slightly singed. Do not EVER argue topics of politics, religion, sex, or videogame play with a troll.

The main difference between a troll and your average malcontent is that a troll is there for his/her/it's masters own amusement. In the case of bots, one lowly person with minimal computer abilities decided to unleash a mindless little brainchild in order to annoy the community en masse. A troll doesn't want to fight, or prove you wrong, or even make you look stupid, they don't have any particular affiliation to one belief or another, but may pretend to in order to create discontent. They just want to play more often than not. Beware of teeth, though.

If you do decide to indulge a troll, or react in any way, be aware that other trolls may begin to swarm. In the right environment Trolls thrive in groups. They are very social creatures and with the right incentive may be coaxed into normal dialogue. Chocolate is the preferred method of coaxing.

However, a troll once tamed is still not your pet. These creatures are very destructive, prone to fits on anger and depression (whichever receives the most reaction). Do not give a troll, even the most well behaved troll, your email or any way to contact you. Trolls will follow you home and once they're onto your scent they are notoriously hard to shake off.

Lets review. Trolls post for the distinct purpose of gaining reactions, not because they believe what they're saying but because they hope you will disagree. Name calling is an act permissible from trolls. People who disagree with you are not trolls by definition. Do not argue philosophy with a troll. Though trolls may appear nice, they do not make good housepets, and should be approached with caution. And lastly...

Trolls are people too. Don't take them too seriously. ;)

You guys are indeed bad...I say we let him hang around a bit....(bwa ha ha ha)

And, in the tradition of DK, I present an excerpt from "A Troll is Born"
----------------------------------------------
"Yes" he whispered in a quiet raspy voice as he rubbed his clawed hands together in glee.
"Let him hang around...and soon...oh very soon..." he mumbled.

The creature trudged into the adjoining room looking for his spittoon. Not finding it anywhere nearby he distastefully spat the wad of ichor into the nearest corner barely missing a cockroach. Hearing the scuttle of hairy insect legs across the stone floor he snatched the roach up with a gnarled hand and raised a singed eyebrow as he looked at the filthy ceiling of his hut. A rotted rope hung from a hook. The blackened mass at the end of the rope was not easily recognizable, but upon close inspection what once passed as human features could be discerned.

He threw his bulbous head back and began to laugh. Louder and louder he laughed as he remembered how loud the human creature who called himself Gatling had screamed. His laughs subsided into a racking cough and he spat another large wad of ichor into the corner which now emitted a sulfurous odor.

"Indeed. Let Gatling hang around a little bit longer" he crooned as he reached out to caress the shrunken head. "Let him hang a little longer and soon his hope will be replaced by change."

He popped the twitching roach into his cavernous mouth and shuffled off to retrieve the ancient tome that would describe the process for resurrecting Gatling as a troll.

Sometimes, a man's calling in life is to serve as an example to others. A negative example.
