What .223's do you use in your rifle?

If I were able to get my hands on some .223 rounds, what would you all prefer? SMC? Remington? Govt Surplus? I think I have a line on some, but if I buy a case of them, I want to be able to get rid of them since they won't work very well in my .38SPL. I hve a couple of guys locally who are looking...anyone here looking for .223?
Also, what are some pricing guidelines that would seem fair from your point of view (I've never purchased .223's). How does $0.43 per round sound?
Just putting some feelers out there. Let me know what you think.

I use whatever factory fresh .223 ammo I can get for my "EBR" and would be interested in some if you got your hands on it. From what I have paid for .223 lately (if I can even get it), your price is reasonable.

Get yourself an AR then you won't have that problem.

How many are in a case? If it's what I'm thinking- 1,000 rounds- a single case wouldn't last long selling it.

It doesn't matter to me what brand although for personal reasons I won't buy Georgia Arms.
This thread says they were $.60 per round at the gun show si I guess $.43 is pretty good.

For plinking brand doesn't matter to me. When it gets down to serious shooting I use Sierra bullets for handloading.

i purchased 2 boxes of federal 223s from walmart in southpointe/fredericksburg and the boxes were 39.95 per 100 which is slightly less than 40 cents a round. i bet they're all sold out now.
i usually shoot wolf. steel cases have never once killed a surplus weapon. has an AK or anything in 9mm makarov ever succumbed to complete destruction because of the use of steel cased ammo? no, never. i doubt it'll kill my american made weapon.

For target shooting I usually get Remington FMJ, they never jam and are fairly accurate.
As far as my experience goes, I steer away from steel cased rounds. They tend to have some sort of polymer coating that sometimes melts when they're chambered and has caused alot of jamming on me.

Check out Cabelas online for bulk 223. I haven't ordered anything from them but did take a trip to Indiana last week to look for Morel mushrooms. On the way we passed Cabelas (in Ohio I think). Picked up a "couple" of cheap boxes of 223. Haven't tried them yet but the price was very reasonable. Sadly they were almost completely out of stock on my favorite handgun calibers.

I have a 1:7 barrel, so I like the heavier bullets. I've been buying the 69gr+ PRVI rounds whenever I find it. Seems like a good cheap practice round.
