Obama's Shrinking Presidency
Obama's Shrinking Presidency
Richard Cohen is very pro-Dohbama. Hoever, his Op-Ed in today's WaPo is interesting. He's writing as a warning, I read it as a wish.
There is one statement that shows how Cohen and the rest of the Obama Love Fest fail to grasp WHY a large demographic of the voters want bho & his crew ejected; "Not only has he compiled a pretty remarkable legislative record, but he moved with dispatch to rescue the financial system, save the auto industry and -- in case no one was looking -- implement reforms of our woebegone education system." Really? So, we are to fawn over him for increasing the size of our government, our debt and spending $billion$ to rescue corporations that were ill-run and should have been allowed to die. All the while "Joe Hardhat" is watching the impending doom of his job loss rush at him while he struggles with his finances. Sure - we're all about that.
Let's hope the shrinking continues.

Amen to that. Let's hope the Republicans (or any alternative party for that matter) bring something to the table this time. Well, at least that's what I'm hoping...

Based on what I've seen, I don't count on that from the Republicans. I see the same ol' same ol' from them, too, so I'm steering clear of them as well. I'm looking much more at the Libertarians, Greens, Constitution Party members, and Independents.
Frankly, I don't give a rat's posterior what Party affiliation someone has, if any. I vote based on the candidate's position.

Ha! Which is completely subject to change upon election, or at any time without notice to the voter.CowboyT wrote: I vote based on the candidate's position.

That is a great idea, unfortunately all that does is guarantee the democraps get re-elected.CowboyT wrote: I'm looking much more at the Libertarians, Greens, Constitution Party members, and Independents.

Re: Obama's Shrinking Presidency
Every time someone says this, it just drives me crazy. I vote Libertarian whenever there's one on the ticket. You think I'm throwing away my vote? Every time I can get someone else to do that, it calls attention to "other" parties. Stop depending on the Republicans. In spite of the awesomeness that was Ronald Reagen, the FOPA was passed when he was president. No one in the Republican ranks will risk their "career" to protect us. We're expedient until we're a liability, then we're thrown under the bus.smltooner wrote:That is a great idea, unfortunately all that does is guarantee the democraps get re-elected.CowboyT wrote: I'm looking much more at the Libertarians, Greens, Constitution Party members, and Independents.
Just FYI, the Greens are one of the biggest nanny state groups around.

I see your point, but you also have to give his statement some credit. Of course, the misinformation, half-truths, and hype propagated by the media isn't any help.jrswanson1 wrote:Every time someone says this, it just drives me crazy. Personally, I'd like to see a 3rd party candidate represented in a primary debate. Sure, the other parties are out there, but any coverage of them is either a paragraph blurb on the 2nd to last page of the politics section of your newspaper or the subject of some joke on a late night talk show. Or so it seems. It'd be nice to bring a couple of them front and center! Of course, neither the Dems or Republicans will approve.

Just look back to 1992, Ross Perot is the reason we got Bill and Hillary for 8 years.jrswanson1 wrote:Every time someone says this, it just drives me crazy. I know that Bush's "read my lips" didn't help, but Perot was the big reason.
Running weak candidates like Bob Dole and John McCain doesn't help either.

and this will continue until people start voting their conscience and stop throwing away their vote on candidates that are ruining America just because they are the "lesser of two evils". Guess what, the lesser of two evils is still evil.
