Can the 20inch 590sp thin barrel be switched with a 20imch 590A1 heavy barrel.?

I think it can, but...

1. You lose the heat shield as the A1 barrel is too thick. I've heard some gunsmiths can bend it to work.
2. It unbalances the shotgun IMHO. Definitely makes it heavier (duh).
3. No need for it unless you use a bayonet.

AFAIK, #3 was the reason the military required the heavier barrel. With the light barrel it put to much stress on the tube mag and could bend the tube. The heavier barrel solves this, but at a high cost to other functions IMHO.
