Looking for a 20ga. shotgun to use in skeet and trap competition, automatic or over/under for my son. Any suggestions on reasonably priced new guns that work well would be appreciated also.

If 600 is not too bad the Stevens 512 ( Savage Goldwing ) is a great one.

However, you have split opinions on the 350.00 Stoeger, 1 half will tell you they work flawlessly ( rough finish though ) and the other half will tell you run from it, but then again it is only 350.00

I have the cz in 28 gauge for my wife it is a great gun,(over/under) but around $900., I have the Stoeger combo 12 guage and 20 guage barrels which switch in seconds. have been using my stoeger for over 5 years and have never had a issue with it. I also picked up a tristar youth model in 20 Gauge for my wife, it was arround $400. Have not had any issues with it. You did not say how old your son is, but I would recommend the stoeger combo with 12 and 20 gauge it is a gun that he will be able to grow into and use for years.

I guess it comes down to your interpretation of competition. How serious is he? How old is he?

He is almost 12 and wears a large mens shirt. He is competing in 4-H and YHEC duing skeet, trap and sporting clays. He will be shooting between 100- 600 rounds per competition, plus weekly practice. I figure he'll be ready for a 12ga. in 1-2 years.
