Silhouette Targets (Human)... OK in VA?

I am new to the sport of target shooting and CC in Virginia.
I never would have thought I needed to ask this question, but as I was about to purchase some human silhouette targets from an Internet store I noticed a warning to "check your State, County and City laws for restrictions before ordering Targets depicting Humans or Human Silhouettes"... so now I'm wondering if these are legal here in VA?
I tried searching, but found nothing. I am now presuming that they are OK, but just to be sure I don't run into any problems the second time I go out to the local range, I thought I should ask.

I've seen them used at ranges in the past. Steve, Bob and Chuck seem to be popular these days.

It is my understanding that some states restrict the use of silhouette targets, but I have bought them at ranges here in VA. To my knowledge they are legal in VA.

No matter where you go some people will look at you strange. Those are the ignorant, holier than thou jerks. Ignore them, they hate themselves too.
I don't know of any state that regulates silhouette targets. Even if there was one, I doubt I could have my ARs, pistols with hi-cap mags, tactical rifles, and generally anything besides a couple .22lr I own in that state so it doesn't matter. They don't want me and my toys there, I don't want to be there. Works best for everyone...so long as they can leave my state alone. Yes, Bloomberg, I'm looking at you!
Silhouette targets are great practical practice for any self/home defence gun. Shooting tiny groups at a fixed distance (E.g. 100 yards for a rifle or 7 yards for a pistol) doesn't mean jack. It is good to learn technique, but shoot a rifle at a silhouette and I will bet you won't group nearly as well. Do it quickly and I bet you miss that "large" target a bunch too. It is a big, non-uniform target that is hard to get a consistent aiming point on. This is the opposite of target shooting where we pick ideal targets for the optic/irons and distance. Target shooters make their target easy to see and hit accurately. That thug breaking into your home at 3AM isn't going to make himself an ideal target.
I encourage everyone to shoot paper and steel silhouettes. I think steel is better training, but good steel is expensive. The last steel target I bought was this one and I love it:
https://www.saluteproducts.com/product_ ... cts_id=155
and the stand:
https://www.saluteproducts.com/product_ ... cts_id=154
This target breaks down so it can be transported even in small cars. It is angled forward so you can safely shoot it at closer distances (guys who shoot them for a living tell me it is safe to shoot at 7 yards, but manufacturers recommends further distances for liability reasons). It is AR500 so it will practically last forever; it won't dent up which causes bad ricochets.

The OP's question would have seemed ludicrous to me, had I not had this recent experience.
I am a refugee from ILL ANNOY. I flew home to visit friends. I have convinced my best man to buy his first handgun (XD 9mm) and now he is considering a shotgun and an AR-15.
For these reasons, and it would be fun, I brought my AR and a Kel Tec Sub 2000 9mm. We intended to camp outside the boundaries of the DDR (Democratic Douche Republik) in Wisconsin because it is nicer and there are more places to shoot.
We arrived at the place and learned that because it is a private business utilizing WI state land, THEY DO NOT PERMIT SHOOTING AT SILHOUETTES! This took me back as being one of the most assinine things I have seen lately (remember I escaped from WI/IL 10 years prior).
I suspect it has something to do with the fact that it involves white people shooting at black targets.
I do not know of any other states in this area that are as retarded as the midwest, and Ol Virginny is certainly not one of them! I expect the silhouette law won't go into effect until these polesmokers force a change to three of the creeks I drive over when I go canoeing.
They are: Mulatto Run, Negro Run and finally Blacks Run.
We don't play PC mhea.

The only problem in shooting at these targets will be if you draw in big ears on them. Also if you shoot at pictures of officials you will draw in CIA inquiries. I know a group who shoot at and posted obama pictures. They were removed pronto!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's not a joke today, I'm surprised they have not do away with the black targets to stay PC

This is one of our favorite targets. Someone told me recently they thought he looks like Tim Geithner, but I'll deny being able to detect that.

I was out with the son-in-law trying to kill a tree...even the venerable 357Sig won't penetrate to the heart...when I noticed a 3-wheeler had pulled up behind us. The neighbor had brought over a silhouette target similar to the one gunderwood referenced, but the head, when struck, would fall back. A follow-up shot to a 4 inch circle in the torso would snap the head back in place. Now the son-in-law won't hardly bother with the tree. Guess I'll have to kill it on my own.

Its sad that some states restrict certain targets. I used to shoot at a range that was also used to teach boy scouts and 4-H kids to shoot on some saturdays. I was taking down my photographic human tagets(these are real depictions of armed assailants and hostage situations)when one of the fathers came over to me and asked why I was shooting at these kinds of targets ? He was agitated to begin with, and probably had a fight with the wife before he came to the range. He told me how he would not allow his son to shoot at such targets and how it sets a bad example for the kids etc....
....about this time I had had enough of this pompous moron, and told him I used these same type of targets to teach my son to shoot when he was 12 years old. He became unhinged. I said " If a stranger broke into my home when my kids were by themselves my son could have , and would have put 2 in the chest and 1 in the head without much conflicting emotions." I went on to explain to him that young shooters need to be taught about life and the dangers of it as well as how to "hit the center ring" on a target. Whether I taught my kids how to shoot or trained them in martial arts, I did not teach them to win trophies, I taught them to win."

GS78 you have done right by your children with shooting and self defense training in Martial Arts. As far as the butthole from the Boy Scouts I don't think I would have had the time or want to speak with him after he first opened his Pie Hole.

Quite honestly, I get great pleasure from reminding A-holes who will walk up to me, interrupt what I'm doing and loudly proclaim their opinion on my conduct. (especially when I'm minding my own business) It usually sounds something like this." Sir or Ma'am, Thank you for offering your unwanted opinion however, I don't know you, don't care to and your opinion means absolutely nothing to me." I find it especially effective when you do it in a soft, firm and matter of factly manner with a smile and then immediately go back to what you were doing. Turn your back to them and treat them like the idiots they are.

That all sounds great Duane, except where you turn your back to the butthole. I sat in my Dr's office for about a 1 1/2 hrs. on thursday with a bunch of people and one woman was pissed that she had been waiting so long(she came in after me) she started to question everyone in the room about how long they had in fact been waiting. When she got to me I looked at her and said in my normal tone that it was NONE OF HER BUSINESS. The Dr. was running about 1 hr. behind because she had handled a heart attack in her office early in the day. I did not know that at the time but I do remember how much time she spent with me on May 17th. when I had mine in her office.

I believe silouette targets are illegal in Massachusetts (but then, who wants to go there...). I'm sure there are other states, too.
Even here in VA, some ranges will not allow them. That's more of a range rule, though. You'd have to check into it before you go.

I think I'll refrain from posting the targets I shoot. I'm pretty sure they are not PC.

It's illegal to shoot humanoid targets in Germany, giving rise to the two headed target.
