I'm planning to get into reloading. .45ACP for starters, then maybe 9mm.

Anyway... So I'm planning to go with the Dillon Square Deal package but I have one concern. I do not have a permanent place to mount it at the moment. Does anyone have a suggestion for mounting a press on a temporary but sufficiently sturdy platform?

There is an old wood working tip that should work for you. Get a piece of 3/4 inch piece of plywood that is large enough to mount the equipment to and that will keep it stable. You can tuck the whole assembly away somewhere when you are not using it. When you want to use it, mount it to a solid surface with woodworking clamps. Another option is to use removable bolts and nuts but that requires you to have someplace that you can drill the mounting holes. Hope this helps.

I've seen pics of folks using the portable Black&Decker work benches. It isnt real stable, but should be stable enough, and you can fold it up and get it out of the way.

I had thought of just leaving holes drilled in a table / desk but I wasn't sure if that was such a good idea. I'll probably give that a go and see how it works.

Maljay's tip is what I use, too. Those C-clamps work well for this.

BTW, since you're just getting started with reloading, I'd recommend doing a little single-stage first, before you go progressive.

The Dillon gear's very good stuff, but since you're doing handgun cartridges only, you might also consider a Lee Pro 1000 and save yourself some dollars. I can hit close to 400 rounds/hr with my .38 Spl press.
