HR1146 sponsored by Ron Paul of Texas would allow for the US to leave the United Nations, It serves us no purpose other than to have lesser countries have a place to come to play political games for Aid money, get us into ridiculous treaties, and play Worlds Policeman. We pay the majority of the costs,the largest share in the International Monetary fund, and it seems that every time there is a war ,,We end up fighting alone or with some token assistance by our "fellow members" while some other country gets the spoils..ie: China gets Iraqs oil deal thanks to a couple of our moron Congressman... If you feel we need to get out of the UN consider signing the petition to remove us from it enteirely.

While I despise the UN and think it should be abolished, leaving it - and leaving it intact - may not work so well for us. As it is we can veto the worst of their excesses, if we pull out there will be nothing to stop them from reenacting Gulliver's visit to Lilliput, with we playing Gulliver and they as the Lilliputians.

Put another way, keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Other than the current administration, congress, and the Fed the UN IMO is one of the most absolute worst things we've ever done. I say we run as far away as possible and immediately bathe ourselves in a strong disinfectant.

Good point, but you are assuming that band of thieves would last once we kicked them off our soil and stopped all funding. Keeping your enemies close is different than funding and sanctioning their cut-throat activities.

Not too mention we could give Billary Clinton and her whipping boy Harold Koh something more useful to do like wait tables at the White House commissary or perhaps work in the janitorial field maybe? Those two have done nothing to help America even once,, Help it fail yes, and they continue to push for even more treaties that will effectively render our Constitution null and void... UN would not be missed IMHO,, Either toss em out or charge em rent,
