Ammo prices are ridiculous to say the least. There must be people sitting on 100,000 rounds each in this area. Every time I go to Walmart for some target ammo they are out of stock. Has anyone tried to do a bulk purchase? I did a bulk purchase on parts and received a dealer discount that was very significant. You do not have to be an FFL holder to purchase ammo.

I load my own now. no need to look at walmart.

Same here. The only thing I need Wal-Mart for now is .22LR. Everything else, I roll my own, and I save a boatload of money per round by so doing.

@ricciardo: would you consider reloading?

I don't reload so many times I buy in bulk from Cabelas or the Sportsmans guide. Only problem is ammo might be backorerd. Cabelas is good about delivering backorders when they say the item is due in or notifying if there is a delay. They also offer free ammo can with purchase of some brands in bulk. The only caliber I've had to wait for is .380. When Christmas comes around that's a good time to order with free shipping.Also check out Aim Surplus.

I've checked into bulk buys on ammo... as in a full pallet and the savings was only a few dollars a box. There is surprisingly little mark up on ammo at most shops.

As others have said reloading is the way to ensure your supply is available when you need it.
