What is that, your night stand? If so, I'm guessing that your not worried about kids grabbing the pistol.

So anyways, what is the make and model We are looking at and is it a new pistol?

Yup, that's the night stand. I opened my eyes this morning and this was the view I had.
I'm 20 and don't' plan on having kids for a while; I'm glad I don't have to worry about them grabbing it, or a wife / girlfriend rendering my guns less than useful.

This is an 8 month new HK USP Compact in 9mm.

I'm truly jealous... that's one of my choices for a new pis-toll-ay but I want a .40 Got any leads on a good place to get a deal on one?

Yeah it's a great gun. Damn reliable, accurate, fairly light and small enough to carry concealed or openly. I OC essentially everywhere and all the time so it's not that big of a benefit for me, but for others it might be.

IIRC there was a FFL on vaguntrader giving away police tradeins for around $400 not too long ago. Think they were all .45 though.

Nice HK. I recently picked up a HK P2000 9mm LEM and love it.

how are those triggers, I have read that the HK pistols are a bit tough out of the box, ...very curious as toy uor impressions, as i like the look, but have not fired one...or, have you guys done any work to the triggers?

Mine is completely stock. Great gun to carry around; it sees more time on my hip than my 1911 which I like just a tad more and my p226 which packs more of a punch. The reason for that is mainly weight as well as size to a lesser degree.

The SA pull has 3 stages of take up and a small consistent (intentional?) amount of creep. The creep seems not to effect my accuracy very much... maybe I just have good trigger control. It breaks exactly at what I would expect a self defense gun to. I'd rate it 8/10, where 10/10 is a short single stage take up with no creep and break at 3.5ish lbs.

The DA pull I'm talking about is half-cock or decocked. Essentially how you would carry it in DA mode if there were a chambered round. 1 stage of take up (slightly longer than SA mode) with the remainder of the pull being long and pretty hard. Breaks very cleanly. Occasionally I find the pull so long and hard that I don't press the trigger all the way back on draw+shoot quick drills even though the SA and DA pulls break at the same spot; with the way I grip my gun it's like I'm clenching my hand into a fist.

Mine has the LEM trigger and I really like it. It took me a few ranged trips to get used to it, but now I love it. The LEM trigger gives a consistent pull instead of a hard DA pull first shot. With the LEM there is very light resistance up until right at the end of the trigger pull, then there is about 8lbs of resistance before it breaks. Some people hate it, but I really like it. It also has a very short reset so once you get a shot off, release the trigger enough to feel the reset and then pull again, it starts pretty much right at the 8lb area so there isn't the long light pull with each shot unless you let the trigger out all the way.
