Do us all a favor and just click the following ad so that I can remove it from obscuring the entire top half of our forum!

I actually have that Firearm Multimedia Guide DVD. It is awesome. Even has a very good selection of Targets you can print, not to mention the THOUSANDS of guns it has in its database with multiple pics of each gun, and hi-res pics.

Problem is they want $29.99 + S&H.
For that price I will pass for now. I'm sure they would sell a lot more of them if they charged $9.99. Production costs are high, but replication costs are low; thus, volume is your friend.

With the amount of data that this thing has on virtually every firearm out there, I'd say that their time and effort invested in putting all of the information together is worth a few extra bucks.
Maybe a better spot for this thread would have been "Geeks with Guns". Who else would want to dig through a huge datastore like this other than a geek?

(by the way, I'm a geek - so get over it!)

All I said is that I have it...
And Rick, it is not hard at all to navigate through. It has a few drop down menues. You can select handgun, rifle, shotgun, whatever, then you can select to look by caliber or manufacturer, etc. It really breaks it down. I will post a couple of screenshots of it later, it really is a great tool to have, but it doesn't have every firearm like you think. It has every one up until they made they guide I would assume, because my Ruger SR 556 is not in it.

Screenshots would be cool. Thanks!

It is the digital content distribution problem. Making the first copy is very expensive, but each copy there after is really cheap and often virtually free. If you price it like an item that took lots of effort to create and copy, than people will find other means (legal or otherwise) to do the really cheap copying. You make so much more money when you price an item like this (where copies are cheap and easy) very low. Volume is how you make your money.
It is their product and they can charge anything they want for it, but nearly $35 was high enough for me to pass. All I was pointing out was that, at a much lower cost, approx. $10, I would probably buy a copy. In fact, at $10 I would probably buy several copies and give them as gifts. At $35 with shipping give or take, I probably won't ever by one copy.
I don't pirate movies or music (I downloaded exactly one song from Napster back in the day just to try it out and then deleted it), but I don't own a lot of that stuff because it costs to much. I'd rather buy a 100 rounds of handgun ammo for the price of a movie. $30 of ammo give me much more satisfaction than watching Hollywood's latest pile of poo.

No one ever mentioned anything Pirated. Did I pay for mine? No I did not. My father-in-law doesn't even know how to turn a computer on and he gave it to me. He got it as a gift and because it had the letters "DVD" on it, he automatically assumed it was for a DVD Player.

Therefore he had no use for it.

I didn't say you did, but I see how it could be read that way. Sorry about that.
I was continuing the conversation more with rick about the pricing and why, if I were the creator, I would price it lower and I believe make more money. Wasn't directing it to you as there are all kinds of ways to "get a copy," some are legal some aren't. It is a whole other discussion to argue what should or shouldn't be legal.

Ok, gotcha. I thought it was the whistle smiley that lead to you mentioning piracy. After I read your post, I thought about the whistle smiley and thought one could think piracy with the way I wrote it. So error on my part.
