Word association thread

I want to start a new thread called "Word association". The way it works is the I start it off with a word, then someone replies with a word that's related in some way. Each person posts a single word - and a few words to indicate the relationship or background of the word. So, I pick "gun" the next person says "pistol" the next person says "desert eagle" the next person says "iguana" so on and so forth.
Sound like fun? Let's see where it leads! Here's the kick-off word.
