Love it - first gun of any sort, and I agonized over many different pistols until I finally decided upon this G17 G4.

I just got a Streamlight TLR-3 from Sterling Safety Footwear and Apparel. They just got in a shipment of TLR-1 and 3s. Their price was reasonable and they are local!! I've bought other stuff from them in the past: 5.11 TacLite Pro pants, 5.11 Operator belt and a 5.11 Pistol Case. They have a pretty good selection of 5.11 stuff there, despite their small size.

I love the light - it's "just" 90 lumens, but it's certainly bright enough for HD and has not only great throw but a good spill pattern for the periphery. The best part is the size and weight, or the lack thereof. It is a very compact unit using only a single CR2 Lithium battery and it purports to a little over an hour of continuous usage. It sits almost flush with the muzzle and it doesn't change the way the gun handles (dry fire anyways). I will see how it performs at the range (I'd love to try it with live fire outdoors at night sometime). As for the possibility of "walking" while firing, I highly doubt it. The "keys" that come with the TLR-3 allow custom fitment to a variety of handguns. I used the one that allows it to sit the farthest back towards the trigger housing. It has a large tang that corresponds with the slot in the accessory rail on the G17. This combined with the tight securing screw (that has an E-clip on the end to ensure it doesn't back out) will see to it that the TLR-3 stays put. It almost looks factory installed, it fits so well. I just wish it sat back just a tad farther (flush against the trigger housing) so that it would be easier for my small hands to turn the light on with a two handed pistol grip.

What was the price on the TLR-3?
