Captain Rescued From Pirates

Post by OakRidgeStars »

Maybe this will teach those Somali pirate scumbags not screw around with a U.S. vessel. Who says our Navy doesn't kick ass?.

Here's the story quoted from the Associated Press:
AP wrote: NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — The boss of the shipping captain rescued from Somali pirates says his employee is deferring credit for the rescue to the U.S. Navy and other government agencies.

Maersk Line Limited President and CEO John Reinhart says Richard Phillips' rescue is a great moment for the nation.

At a news conference, Reinhart says he talked to Phillips on the phone and also read a quote from Phillips in which the captain said: "John, I'm just the byline. The real heroes are the Navy, the Seals, those who have brought me home."

U.S. officials say Phillips was freed unharmed Sunday in a swift firefight that killed three of the four pirates who had been holding him for days in a lifeboat off the coast of Africa.

Those Navy Seals are good, it's one thing to shoot from a stationary platform,( eg. the ground ), something else to shoot from a moving ship to a small bobbing boat. I didn't hear the distance of the shots.

I did heard on Fox News that all three shots were fired at the same time.

,,, To see 3 get popped at once must have been a site to see,That is shooting. These POS'S say they are going to step up their hijacking because of this,, I think we may have just found a great place to train our military with real targets!!

Pretty interesting story here.

Says the current SEALs sniper rifle is the M107. Not sure if that's what they were using at the time though...
