SPREAD FAR AND WIDE:

Mayor "I bought my last election" Bloomberg of New York is now pushing
hard for Congress to destroy gun shows across the country.

Just in case you think the threat isn't serious, here is what is in
store for America if the Mayor gets his way in Congress:

* Details of the sale, such as the type of gun, the SERIAL NUMBER,
and any other information the Attorney General may want must be
provided for guns sold by private sellers

* Any person selling a gun, be it just walking around with a gun, or
having purchased a table to sell a gun, must be registered with the
gun show AT LEAST 30 DAYS BEFORE the show and the gun show must
provide PERSONAL INFORMATION about each private seller to the Attorney General

* Private sellers must show photo ID to the gun show operator and
sign a log book with personal information

* The feds will now have TRUE GUN REGISTRATION information in a
database - GOODBYE FREEDOM

* If you make a mistake in all of this, you can get up to FIVE YEARS
in prison. The gun show operator also can be put in prison for
paperwork mistakes

* Gun show operators will have to register with the U.S. Attorney
General

* The Attorney General can make up regulations at will for controlling gun show operators

* The Attorney General can charge a fee, no limit set, for a gun show
operator license

* Gun shows must get permission from the Attorney General 30 days in
advance of any show to be able to have a show

* All sales must go the the National Instant Check System

A barrage of ads and commercials is starting immediately, attempting
to push Congress to pass this legislation!

The full bill can be seen here:

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.2324:

Senators Warner and Webb are coming under pressure to support the gun control measure by the usual suspects. It is CRITICAL that they hear from us NOW!

-

ACTION ITEM!

We need to contact Senators Webb and Warner and urge them NOT to
support the destruction of our gun rights and must do so NOW!

To send a message to Mark Warner, click here:

http://warner.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?p=Contact

For topic, select "Second Amendment Rights"

For Subject, enter "There is NO gun show loophole"

-

To send a message to Jim Webb, click here:

http://webb.senate.gov/contact.cfm

For Subject select "Civil Liberty"

-

Suggested message to both Warner and Webb:

There is NO gun show loophole and I urge you NOT to support any
further infringements on my right to buy, sell and own firearms. The
bills under consideration, HR2324 and S843, will DESTROY gun shows and
will also implement the registration of firearms. History, including
here in America, has shown that registration is followed by
confiscation - none of which can be tolerated.

Criminals get their guns either by stealing them or through straw
purchases - neither of which can be stopped by background checks. A
study done for the U.S. Department of Justice (Firearms Use by
Offenders) in 2006 found that only 0.7% of guns used in crime come
from gun shows.

Make no mistake - these bills are not about reducing crime, but they
are about destroying a major part of our right to keep and bear arms.

These bills cannot be "fixed up" to be made acceptable - they can only
be defeated.

Please let me know how you are going to vote on these bills.

Same here.

This whole loophole thing is ridiculous. First off, it's just a private sale. There is no "loophole". And the biggest thing is, I've been to 3 or 4 gun shows this year and I've only seen ONE gun up for private sale.

Granted, I didn't go around asking every table if they had any for private sale, but I only saw one that had a small sign on it that said private sale. This "issue" is blown WAY out of proportion from what I've seen.

We as gun owners have to watch this thing very closely...If they were to get the private sales of guns and ammo it would only be a matter of time till they wanted something else,.then something else,,,,,etc;;;

If you use thomas to look up this bill (the link above is broken) it was submitted last June and hasnt gone anywhere -- yet. It went to subcommittee and is still sitting there...

Go to the link below and type H.R.2324 in the search box. Click the bill number radio button and get the details...

Just sent mine out to both Webb and Warner for as much good as it will do.
Did anyone notice that Warner had a subject in the dropdown menu for the 2nd Ammendment rights but Webb did not? Interesting

Vern

Yeah, I noticed that. Also noticed that Warner had a check box for requesting a response, and Webb did not.

I've sent my responses to Warner and Webb also this AM. I've done that before, and received a response from Warner some time ago.

It would be a real bummer to have to take your gun to a State Police Barracks in order to register, do a background check on the buyer, then have the transaction approved. I've never heard such stuff.

Due to the gun show loophole I didn't have to pay sales tax on a pound of jerky I bought. The guy sold it to me under the table with no paper work.

When salty beef jerky is outlawed, only outlaws will have salty beef jerky.

It is a slippery slope. They are already talking about "reasonable" salt control in food. Next, they will require registration of your beef. Finally, they will confiscate your jerky out right.

:hysterical:

Done.

I think I'll send another note to the fine fellows in Richmond;

"Every year thousands of Virginia Citizens are killed or injured in automobile accidents. These accidents can only be stopped thru a complete background investigation on every Citizen wishing to purchase a vehcle. I urge you to sign into law such a measure and to BAN all private sales of automobiles, motocycles & scooters. This is the only was we can protrct the lives of our citizens.

And I want spiders outlawed. Creepy little bastaches."
