Has anyone seen or heard any news regarding the rally in DC today???

I heard a brief story on the radio this morning around 5:30 am, the news show "america in the morning" said there was a scheduled rally in the district, but failed to mention why.

Any Idea as to how many actually showed up?

what i found to be disconcerting is the news media showed the rally in VA, but not in DC so much. i guess the rally in DC with noone wearing guns isnt theatrical enough. they didnt mind showing the guns from alexandria though..i knew this would be a problem. while i support the ppl who went to DC, if you dont have a gun on your hip, the news jsut isnt interested.

There was a small crowd of about 2000-3000 people. its a shame that the oppen carry protest got most of the press.

The reason the OC protest got so much attention was because they all had guns displayed. One Fox article got it wrong saying they were all unloaded...the rifles were but not the HG and I'm sure everyone had rifle mags on their persons...

Just read the article on Yahoo news. The VA rally got the most publicity, just a mention of the rally in DC. IMHO, this rally should not have taken place so close to DC, as to not distract from it. The interview with Vanderboegh paints us all as gun totin crazies. And some of the comments .....

BTW, if you Google "Skip Coryell" and click on the News link you will get over 500 articles that mention these rallies. As others have noted, a lot of the attention went to the VA rally where "guns were present".

There were about 2000-2500 in D.C. by what I would call "reliable" sources.

There were about 125-150 at Gravelly Point. That's by my own eyes.

IMHO, this rally should not have taken place so close to DC, as to not distract from it.

In my opinion these rallies, none of them, should even be necessary.

But they are.

I respectfully disagree.

The rifles were unloaded as a concession to the park police and to show those in attendance and those watching, both locally and internationally (I personally spoke with media from NBC, CNN and a Canadian News bureau), we wanted to present that we are angry. We are not terrorists. We are CITIZENS (only citizens own arms). We are responsible and we do not want government taking from nor GIVING ANYTHING to us.

Sadly the most highlighted area by the outsiders will continue to be Vanderboeghs remarks regarding fair trials and unfair gunfights .Many unknowing people will take those remarks as representative of us all and paint us a bunch of crazies in camo. Remarks to the media should always involve engaging the brain first. I am in agreement with Wylde007 here ..these rallies shouldn't even be necessary but they are.We need to continue shouting out louder and longer than those that seek to disarm honest citizens in the name of "public safety"

Someone please cite where Virginia law says rifles must be unloaded.

And please don't cite the section about twenty-round magazines and shotguns holding more than seven rounds.

While this article was not nearly the hatchet job it could have been, it was still under-researched.

As you know there is isn't one. Apparently the rally organizers made a concession from a request by Park Police to not have their rifles loaded.

Not apparently. Explicitly.

It wasn't a park police request. It was an olive branch concession made by Dan Almond, as was the request to carry muzzle-down since we were directly under the north runway approach for Ronald Reagan airport.

I didn't agree with it 100% but acquiesced in the interest of the event's common goals - to represent us as reasonable, responsible citizens who are simply quite tired of being told how to live our lives by an intrusive, invasive, punitive government.
