We were down in Charlotte visiting my wife's youngest sister when I was remined of some artifacts that they are keeping. You see, my darling wife the grand daughter of MGEN Rupertus, USMC. Anyway - I was given 2 handguns to identify & restore. One is a .45 (that's for another thread). However, this little guy I cannot ID:



The slide length is 4.25 inches and from Butt to top is 3 inches.

MGen Rupertus is usually credited with writing The Rifleman's Creed during the early years of WWII in order to better instill an appreciation in Marines for both their weapons and their marksmanship. Sadly, the General died when Pat (his son) was very young, so there is almost no oral history. Everything we know about him comes to us thru books and TV shows (most of which are none too kind to him). We have albums full of photos & other ephemera. I have displayed his awards (all but one is original) and have his "George" medal from Guadalcanal as well as the "diaper pin" on which it was originally awarded.

The one thing I was hoping to find was the manuscript for the creed. However, the accounts I can find indicate the manuscript was handed to an aid, who "cleaned it up", typed it out & probably ditched the manuscript.

No love for the little tyke. The slide was not picking rounds up from the magazine. Upon investigations it's almost like the lips of the mag are burred to it holds on tightly to the round, not allowing release.

I know this is an old post but you will find all sorts of information if you use the correct caliber. It is a 6.35 not 5.35.
