Acknowledging it would be a highly unpopular move, White House economic adviser Paul Volcker said yesterday the United States should consider imposing a "value added tax" similar to those charged in Europe to help get the deficit under control.

Volcker, at the New-York Historical Society, told a panel on the global financial crisis that Congress might also have to consider new taxes on carbon and energy.

The VAT suggestion was immediately met with outrage by Republicans.

"It shouldn't surprise anyone that the Obama White House would advocate a European-style tax to help finance their European-style government health-care plan," said Brian Walsh, a spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee.

Well, according to our precious Constitution they cant do that but I'm sure something so simple and mundane as that would not hold them back...

There was an Iowa politicain on Fox yesterday that hit the nail on the head perfectly. States need to take back their sovereignty, the fed needs to be shrunk back to its original intent and if states want projects,,,They pay for them!! No dollars from Uncle Sam through earmarks, which need to be done away with immedialtely if not sooner. For that jackass to even hint at a VAT is obscene in any language.

KGIII forced the Colonists to purchase only English Tea - bho is forcing Colonists to purchase health care.

KGIII foisted unwarrented & un represented taxes on the Colonists - because of bho & his cronies we are all looking at seeing our takehome pay taxed into oblivion.

And those of you who are much more savvy in Colonial Politics (teh 1775 version and teh 2010 version) can school me in ALL the similarities between Good King George & HRH, Komrad Obama.

If you arent familiar with the DOI it was actually a DOWar. Read the whole thing especially the part with the "charges." Several similarities...
