I'm in the market for either a Redhawk or Super Redhawk in .44 Magnum. Any barrel size 7 1/2" or under is fine.

I don't know what you are going to use it for but remember that the shorter the barrel on a .44 mag the less velocity you will get out of it. If you should have a chance fire a 4" 44 Mag. and then tap the barrel on a clean white sheet of paper and see what powder grains fall out that were not burnt up with the short barre. I have Hog and Deer hunted with a .44 and I use a 10 5/8" barrel Smith & Wesson for a full powder burn and more knock down power.

Your suggestion is a good one. I've recently fired a .44 Magnum Redhawk with a 4" barrel, and it was a lot of fun. The loads were pretty hot, even for .44 Mag.
This would be primarily for home defense (yeah, I know, but I like big-bore revolvers) and would mostly see .44 Special or medium .44 Magnum fired out of it. It'd be a workin' gun, in that it'd see lots of range time. So the 7 1/2" or less barrel would do the trick.

The Super Redhawk is a fine gun. Nice and beefy so you can work up some really hot loads. I used one in AZ for several years. I could work loads up so hot that the 10" inch barrel couldnt get them to stabilize...not that a load so hot was useful - just nice to know the limits of the gun...
