Was flush with lots of stuff this afternoon, more than I've seen in 18 mo. I did my part and took some of the weight off the shelves.
Was wondering if I just got lucky, or are supplies easing statewide?

Most of the Walmarts and Dick's that I have been in lately have had no shortage of ammo. I expect that sooner or later we will see the prices fall a bit....I haven't bought a box of centerfire ammo in nearly 20 years since I reload. Reloading components are pretty easy to find now. I expect those prices to fall a bit, too. Walmart has plenty of powder, but no primers. I don't buy much of either there, though. I can get them from other sources for less.

I stepped into a WallyWorld yesterday because I wanted to pick up a couple of boxes of 9mm. I was floored at the amount of ammo they had on the shelves.
The one thing the guy said he is having problems with now is .22 ammo. He said that over the last few months there has been a run on .22 and they can't seem to keep it on the shelves. Other than that they had a butt load of ammo for most shooters.

I think people are hoarding .22 as SHTF reserve and for trade bait...

I think 22's spiked in popularity the past year or two due to shortages and price hikes on CF ammo. The thing Wally world has going for it is they have one of the best prices on Federal 550 "red box" .22, it is a surprisingly accurate and high quality ammo, and 550rds only cost $17.
Now, gun shows 'cons' buy all 6 boxes of the 550 that Walmart allows you to purchase, and sells them at the gun shows for $25-$35/box...

Dang It!
Winchesters and Remingtons Jumped $3 a box at Zion... Federals holding, but not on the shelf.
I'll just keep reloading til it comes back down - the component metals aren't that high.

Well, actually what I meant by trade bait was if the SHTF then .22 ammo will be kinda like little gold nuggets are now...Hey bud, trade ya 5 .22 LR cartridges for 2 loaves of bread...or a can of coffee

I'm still not seeing much .38 Special or the relatively cheap Federal 9mm. The expensive 9mm, they've got gobs of it. The 550 round Federal boxes of .22LR are now $18.97.
Reloading your own really is your saviour these days. I couldn't afford to shoot enough to get/stay good if I didn't.

Hey Cowboy, since you dont live in Kalifornia anymore you can order it online and they deliver right to your doorstep...
Lots of good deals out there...especially on 9mm.
