Gas Prices on the Rise Again

Post by OakRidgeStars »

Well, summer must be on the way. Gas prices around here have jumped $0.20 in the past two weeks or so

I just saw $1.93 at the Wa-Wa. What's the price for gas where you are?

$1.82 was the low over the weekend at WaWa/Hess stores on Rosemont at Chester.

$1.89 at WaWa and Beach Robo on the Boulevard between Lynnhaven and Great Neck.

That's up from $1.66 in the middle of the week.

$1.89 It's a good thing I have a company truck to drive back and forth to work. 1 1/2 hour each way.

I live just off Rosemont and work just off Lynnhaven. If it takes me ten minutes to get to work it's a long drive.

Hell... I wish I was paying "gasoline" prices.. My truck runs on Diesel and it is currently $2.29-$2.39/gal.
Back in July'08 it got as high as $4.75/gal. Believe me, I was suffering..

alby, I was just reading your post again that 60 to 70 cents more you pay must be the road tax.

I get my diesel at Francis Fuel on rt.501 and I asked him what the difference was between regular and off road and he told me it was about 45 cents a gallon. I only use it for a tractor and have no other diesel vehicles so I didn't know it was that high.

Off Road Diesel is illegal to have on road. I don't know the penalties, but off road diesel is red, if I'm not mistaken, and easily checked by the
state police. As for how they can spot you while driving is unknown to me. But even outside of that, I can't use Off Road Diesel even if I wanted
too because I have a 2008 Ford F-250 which has the new diesel engine designed for the new Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel 15/ppm. The Sulfur content of offroad
diesel is too high for this new engine to handle. So I'm outta luck with even thinking about off Road diesel, or even Low Sulfur 500/ppm diesel.

Your right alby off road is red and it is marked red diesel on my receipts. I was surprised at the price difference, I never buy any regular diesel. I never owned a diesel truck or car. That price difference must be federal tax. I bet if you get caught with it on the road you'll pay a pretty hefty fine, sort of like moonshine, the feds will get you.

Because there is a stipulation in the Constitution that gives the federal government the right to tax fuel.

Got it.

Today, it's back down to $1.83 at Wa-Wa. Looks like it's going to be up and down for a while.

I wonder why gas is cheaper in the city, went to town today and it's still 1.99 here in the boondocks.

I agree VBshooter that 4.00 a gallon was real bad.

I think it's cheaper in the city because there's more competition. All it takes is for one station to drop the price a few cents, and all the rest will match it. The cheapest gas around here is at Costco, but you have to be a member. As soon as my BJ's Wholesale memebership runs out, I'm switching to Costco.

I'm forecasting that gas prices will hit at least $2.50 per gallon by July.

Oil prices fell yesterday and according to this articlehttp://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/oil_prices there is a world wide glut of oil due to decreased demand caused by the high unemployment rates,,, We'll just have to wait and see,,,I look at this way,, Along with gun measures and budget concerns I watch what my elected people do on everything ,,If they are still doing the same old business as usual BS I have no problem anymore about voting their ass out!!!!

As we all know, the price of oil is seldom reflected in the price of gas at the pump. The oil companys can adjust their refining output to raise the price of gas anytime they feel the need. I'm not in favor of a lot of government regulation, but there should be something that can be done to prevent these greedy bastards from robbing us all summer long :tommygun:
