1. VGOF Stickers Available Again
I just received a shipment of VGOF stickers and will happily send them to anyone who wants to put one on a vehicle or pass one on to a friend. Most requests that I receive are responded to with 3 stickers. If you need more or less, please let me know. Please do not stick these on people's vehicles without their permission :)

2. Yahoo, Gmail and Hotmail don't like this newsletter
There are a lot of folks who haven't been receiving the VGOF newsletter and I determined the cause of the problem. Yahoo, Gmail and Hotmail don't like us! Essentially, it goes like this... I send out an email to everyone and it gets sent to a lot of addresses fairly quickly. Let's say that 130 VGOF members are using Yahoo.com email addresses, so Yahoo get 130 emails from VGOF all at once. This triggers a spam blocking mechanism within their servers and defers the email - so you may never see it.

So, if you want to receive emails such as this one every time, please update the email address in your profile to you@yourISP.com (comcast, verizon, etc). Maybe that will help - but I can't guarantee it.

#############################################

3. VGOF Donations
First, I have to say that it makes me blush a little bit to put this out here. I'm not one to ask for something like this, generally - but it's gotten to the point where I could use a bit of a hand.

It's that time of year when our hosting payment and domain renewal comes due. I plan to renew the domain for several years this time around and hosting isn't cheap. Add to that, the time and effort that goes into managing this place and (trying to) keep everyone happy...well, you get the point.

Please take a moment to notice the new "Donations" button at the top left of the forum menu. In addition to supporting VGOF, you will get a nice "VGOF Supporter" badge on your profile to show off to everyone that you're helping keep the place going.

Thank you for your support!

#############################################

4. Let it Snow!
Alright - that may be a poor choice of words. Maybe better to say "Please let it stop snowing!". I hope that everyone is getting things dug out from the weekend mess and that everyone is doing alright with power, heat, water and everything else. There's more snow in the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, so stay vigilant!

Visit the thread to tell us about your snowy weekend.

5. Gun bills in the VA General Assembly

I'm sure most of you are already receiving emails from several places about these gun bills, but just in case you aren't "in the know" - here's the VCDL Legislation tracking page.

http://www.vcdl.org/static/2010leg.html

And also some of the lastest VCDL VA-Alerts and other information to help keep you informaed about firearms related legislative activity in Virginia:

6. National Park Carry effective Feb 22!

On February 22nd, 2010, the restriction on the right to carry in national parks will be officially lifted. This means that federal restrictions will be removed and national parks will be restricted only by state and local laws. Essentially, this means that CC and OC will now be legal in Virginia National Park areas. Here is a list that I believe to be accurate of National Park Service areas which will be affected. There may be more or less. If you're not sure, please call the National Park Service to verify.

Same here, and I'm on a real ISP too (not gmail, hotmail, yahoo). I do receive emails one at a time, such as PM's and such.

Someone must be throttling your bulk email dumps  :dunno:

I think if we yahoo emailers add your address to our contacts list the email will come through every time. May help out your reputation with yahoo also.. get you past the spam blockers for those who do not know to add you to their contact list.

I think. Not positive, I am no computer wizard. just see it a lot.

Well - yahoo.com still seems to be causing a problem at this time in some cases, so if you're on a yahoo.com email, you still may not receive it in a timely manner. There are a lot of complaints on the internet about yahoo's email policies. *sigh*

Oh well...one step at a time, I guess :)
