I can't find proof of the Pelosi quote despite much googling... anybody else have any luck?

A lot of the others I was able to find and are true, valid quotes, but that Pelosi quote I don't know about.

The Pelosi quote is a myth, its not documented anywhere except on websites such as the FreeRepublic and others (the original list by Moss20, in fact can be found there verbatim, in exact order). In addition, the Al Gore quote is also incorrect as well. He never stated "I invented the Internet." What he did say is

"During my service in the US Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet."

Even if pelosi didnt say that she has said plenty of other things against our freedoms and against the American people. Regarding gore's "quote" what he really did say is the same difference and congruent with "I invented the internet."

You can find something damaging from almost every politician, but its important to make sure we don't cross the line and attribute things that never happened. As for Gore, when he made that statement, he was acting like most politicians, taking credit for "initiatives" he supported as a member of Congress. Take a look at the exact quote in its full context:

"During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system."
---Al Gore during an interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN (March 9, 1999)

This quote was eventually twisted to that found on the original list. You may interpret it as you will, but he never said "I invented".

If I said "I took the initiative in creating the pistol" you could later say that I invented the pistol and be correct based only on what I said. Invented and created are pretty much synonymous.

Can you please explain the difference between create and invent? Gore basically took credit for something he did not create. What he did do was make sure some money was appropriated for the internet. Perhaps you didnt know that. And, that doesnt mean he created or helped create it. It only means he supported it. BIG difference.

Exactly, but Gore never said he "invented" the Internet and the operative word in his original statement is "initiative". He took the the initiative which led to its creation together with a host of others. For example Thomas Edison as everyone knows, invented the light bulb without any assistance, funding, or ideas from others. Dwight D. Eisenhower, on the other hand, took/led (supposedly) the initiative together with others in the Republican party that created our federal highway system as it exists today. He had no hand in the design or initial concept and is not referred to as the "inventor" of said system, but he was involved in leading the effort/initiative to create our federal highway system. Gore was one of many involved in pushing the legislation/funding that moved DARPA's initial version of the Internet--a DoD entity--into the mainstream for use by the public. Supporter would have been a better word, unless of course he led Democrat Party efforts to fund and mainstream the system.

Frankly, all I'm saying is that partisan politics can color a statement any way it wants. I, frankly, refuse to let them do it for me and will examine the facts myself.

Yes, but you left out the real operative word "create" which he did indeed say. Create and invent are pretty much the same thing. As a matter of fact IMO the term create is more powerful than invent. That is, God creates and man invents.

We're getting away from the original issue which was that the quote attributed to Al Gore was incorrect. He never used the word "invented" period. Using the forward leaning logic attributed to saying Gore "invented" the Internet, I guess Sarah Palin in explaining her foreign policy experience did indeed say

"I can see Russia from my house"
