UPDATE: Dozens of weapons found on suspect’s Appomattox property, records show

APPOMATTOX — In canvassing the home and property where eight people were found dead Tuesday, investigators discovered more than a dozen bombs, an assortment of rifles and even a pair of homemade mortar tubes, according to search warrant inventories filed in court Friday.

Christopher Speight, 39, of Spout Spring, was arraigned on one count of first-degree murder of his sister by Appomattox County Circuit Court Judge Richard Blanton on Friday morning as well. Blanton advised Speight of his rights and ordered that he continue to be jailed without bond. Speight told the judge he did not need a court-appointed lawyer and would hire one soon.

I'd like to extend a great, big slap on the back to the news organization that reported and published the story copied at the top of this thread: "Search warrant inventories show investigators found a dozen rifles inside the home and around the property, including at least three AR-15-style rifles. The AR-15 is a semi-automatic civilian-legal version of the military M16 and M4." That final sentence is contrary to everything the hoplophobes want us to think. Wayda go!

It is rare to see a story in the media that doesn't contain the words "assault weapon" or "arsenal".

This just in from Bloomberg (the twit) news...beep..beep..beep...

Dozens of assault weapons and cop killer guns along with explosives and bullet proof vests were found at the gun-nut's house in Virginia. These dangerous weapons must be eradicated from our streets. One gun store owner in New York stated "I didnt know grenade launchers could be purchased in Virginia. Somebody needs to do something about that." In another story Senator Chuckie "cheese" Schumer (D-NY) explained why he needs a concealed hand gun permit. "Those hookers accused me of ripping them off and now the head pimp is after me. I must be able to defend myself and my lovely wife." Messages left at the pimp's phone number were not immediately returned.

That's my story. I'll overlook the copyright infringement so long as I can get some Central Virginians from this forum for another story for this weekend about our culture and folks' attitudes about guns before, during and after this incident. I'm particularly interested to know if anyone is worried that there will be legislation that comes on the heels of this to restrict gun ownership rights and/or concealed carry rights in Virginia.

To come onto a forum and make accusations of copyright infringement "but I'll overlook it so long as [you meet my needs]". Doubtful that you'll get a pleasant response coming in like that, Sir.
