What is your favorite Shotgun? Do you use it for hunting or defense?

That's a hard question to answer. So many to pick from. I would say my 870 that iv'e had for 35 years. I used it for hunting until I bought a mossberg 935 now it's a safe queen.

I agree I love the 870 and it is a classic. Plus with so many accessories are available you can dress it out to suit you from tactical to a field unit.

Mine has to be my Ruger Red Label All Weather. It's a 26", over under, stainless steel masterpiece. I've shot skeet with it and plan on using it for bird/turkey hunting. I just like to pull it out of the safe every once in a while just to look at it. It really is a beautiful shotgun.

I'm split between a Mossberg 500 and a Winchester 37A, my first gun given to me in 1973. Both used for hunting.

I would have to say the Mossberg 500. Reason 1- I shoot long guns left handed and the safety on top of receiver is best for me. The safeties by the triggers are awkward to quickly deactivate with left hand. Reason 2- Price and availability.
I have one w/ 18.5 inch barrel for home defense/truck gun and 2nd with rifled barrel and scope for deer season. I also possess Mossberg 9200 w/ 7 shot extension and 18.5 barrel and synthetic stock. Its a blast to shoot but not reliable enough for any defensive purpose. It will jam just about any 3" shell 90% of the time. 2 3/4" shells will jam occasionally.

I'd say it's a toss up between my Remington 1100 and the Fox Sterlingworth my grandfather had. If I had to choose between the 2 I guess the Fox would win.

I wish I owned my favorite shotgun, but I'm not sure if Uncle Sam would let me.
Yep, it's the AA-12

mossberg 500. i can't break it. its a cheapie originally purchased from walmart in the early 90s, but the gun won't break. saiga12 is pretty fantastic too, but its a lot more money for just as much fun.

Now that's a shotgun.
I'll take my Maverick 88. Pistol grip for home defense...full stock with long barrel for hunting.

I'm partial to my Mossberg 835. It mainly sees duty as a turkey gun but with a choke change it will do just about anything I need it to. Just need to order a slug barrel for it.

Can't go wrong with alot of the shotguns already mentioned.
I'm partial to the mossberg 500 just for the aftermarket support. And my maverick 88 is essentially the same gun.
Throw an 18'' barrel on it for home defense, change chokes for bird/deer/etc.
So far my 88 has done me well, no jams and cheap to operate.

I don't use a shotgun for home defense. I'll just use whatever pistol I took off my belt when I went to bed.
I don't have my favorite shotgun anymore. The Remington 1100. I had three at one time, two "short" chambers and a 3" magnun one. All had vent ribs. Nice looking, soft shooting guns. I could dove hunt all day with them and never feel it. Like an idiot, I traded two of them, including the magnum off for something I don't even remember now. The other one was actually my ex-wifes. She got it when we split up.
My favorite of the ones I have now, is my old Sears-Roebuck (Mossberg 500) pump. That thing just keeps on shooting. I've mostly used it for deer hunting and it has never failed to put a deer down with a couple loads of No 1 buckshot. The only time it "failed" was my fault. I knocked the deer down with the first shot, then "short shucked" the gun and jammed it. The deer got up, staggered down to the next stand and the fellow there finished it off. Still the gun did it's job. The operator failed.
I also had a beautiful AYA (SXS) double 20 that I got at Sears-Roebuck years ago. I can't really say that I shot it too much, but man that gun was pretty and felt great. Again, I traded it off for something else.

My favorite 'bird' gun is a 20 ga. L.C. Smith, field grade. Favorite 'other hunting' gun is a Browning Gold Hunter 3.5 and favorite 'home' guns are a toss up between the S&W side folder and the Saiga 410.
