Army Navy Surplus Stores

Whatever happened to the good, old military surplus stores?. The only two we have left around here have turned into clothing stores. Which is great if I'm looking for hats, T-shirts, or cheesy imitation security guard jackets, but not so great if I need a few ammo cans and cheap 1911 mags. I still see military surplus items being sold online, but they are nowhere to be found at the largest naval base in the country?. What's up with that?.

So where are the surplus stores in Virginia?. I used to spend a couple hours or so rummaging around through that crap.

I miss them too. The last real Army-Navy stores in the NoVa area has closed: Annandale Surplus and the other store on the ground floor of Interarms in Old Town, Alexandria.

Gun shows have a variety of militaria vendors if you can wait for the next show. Manassas Gun Show is this weekend (3/28- 3/29) and the next Chantilly Gun Show in April.

There is a surplus store that recently opened in Orange. I haven't been in it yet. I'll have to check it out and see if it's worth fooling with.

Jay,
We have one here on the Peninsula on Rt.#17 on the way to Yorktown. It's call GI Joes. It has ammo boxes but I don't know about the mags. They are pretty expensive but do have lots of items. Just take exit #258 North and keep heading toward Yorktown and it's on the left.

Oops! It's on the right, not the left.

No Joy on the print....printer's functions are of interest mainly to historians at this point...Like the fellow said in re- the parrot: It is no more, it has ceased to BEEEE.

Good thought though.

ranger surplus has T shirts, pocket knives, and mace. not really straight up military surplus. no gun parts, maybe some shoulder holsters, but that's it. zero magazines or ammo last time i was in there. ammo cans were $20 for a single 30 cal can, and pretty rusty at that. the place is straight up weak sauce unless you're looking for dickies work pants.

full metal jacket was closed, but i guess they moved. they used to be at zero prince street. the city of alexandria took over that piece of property by imminent domain and turned it into a dock.

I grew up with them. That old muskie smell from WWII - Bought a holster for a 45 once while home on leave from the Marines-- Bare leather it was. I dyed it up, removed the insides and gave it a polish like you wouldn't believe. She shined like a diamond in a goats --- . :D Gave it to my CO when I got out. :)
