Hello,
I am a nOOb when it comes to AR's. I have been considering the Colt A3 Tactical and the DPMS AP4. What are your recommendations for Brands and models?

Colt, no doubt wins, but expensive. My buddy and I built my AR-15 A4 with parts from RRA both lower and upper. I love my AR-15. I have no opinion about the other brands as I have not handled them. Building your own AR will save you a lot of $$$ what with the current high demand for this rifle; it can be fun putting the parts together.

A Colt - the 6920 is the M4 clone by which all others are judged - is probably always a good choice. Much better than a DPMS, at least based on the DPMS that I own (the only AR that I ever got rid of). CMMG, RRA, Noveske, LMT, and Sabre are also pretty good brands with the newer offerings from Smith and Wesson supposedly being much improved too.

I really want the Colt A3 Tactical and let one slip through my fingers last week. It was a damn good price and I kick myself for not jumping on it.

Well I could hold out no longer. I really wanted an LWRC but they were out of my price range so I picked up a S&W M&P15X.

Nice rifle and I think it will be very happy here. Only thing is I can hear it saying..."Need accessories, need accessories". Is this normal? Smile

Not me. Mine's for keeps.

Sounds like a pretty good idea to me! So, now I need to get someone to ask Mrs. Allingeneral to put $4,000 in my wallet so I can go buy parts to build a few of them to sell!

That is always the downside.. You gotta spend big money just to make a few dollars... lol

I have but it was just a standard AR. No bells or whistles.

Well I took it out and only had forty rounds to put down range approx 45yds (waiting on shipment of ammo). This is my back yard and my first time shooting an AR and it was with iron sights kneeling, resting on a small (too damn small) table. At my age (55) the eyes aren't what they used to be so I had to use my Bushnell binoculars to see what I shot. I think with some practice I can improve.

Thanks guys for the kind words. I am already addicted to this baby. My WOlf shipment came today and I can't use it till I do the break in (200-400 rds) of some brass ammo. I hope to have my GA shipment in a couple of weeks.

It's kind of funny how there's always plenty of Wolf ammo to be had.... almost like it's unwanted or something

SigFever, I just picked my first owned M4 on Monday (FrankenStag) and couldn't see my shots from 50 yards without assistance, I am 36 and have 20x10 & 20x15 vision. Don't feel bad. I do want to get a bionic eye so that I can do that...
