anyone been to Guns & Ammo Warehouse? its outside of the downtown part of manassas. some of you might know the area i'm talking about because its just a few doors down from the burger king that hosts informal car shows when its warm out.
this gun shop is really clean. i was very surprised to see how neat and straight the whole place was. the whole place just felt very fresh and new. i went in there to buy powder when i started handloading 38 special and the guy gave me a free hodgton load data manual. it was the previous years addition, but it was nice of him.
lots of 1911s at this shop. they're always at the chantilly gun shows. used long guns are on the sales floor so you can pick them up and handle them. last time i was there they had an interesting assortment of high dollar (collectable, not overpriced) milsurp such as swedish mausers, german mausers, and M1s.
i'd say if you're doing the gun shop tour around manassas this is another one to add to your list. anyone else been to this place?

I've been there, and find them quite friendly and helpful. I bought a Taurus revolver from them last November at the show, and it's been nothing but trouble. Every step of the way, they've helped me with shipping it back and working with Taurus. Excellent customer service!

Just curious... what's wrong with the revolver?

I like these guys. I bought my Baby Eagle there and will probably be stopping by after I go to the gun show in Manassas this Sat. The prices are reasonable and (looks around) they have donuts!

What's NOT wrong with it is a shorter list. It's had the trigger assembly replaced twice, the hammer replaced, the cylinder clip put on (yes, the cylinder came loose while I was shooting)... up to a 30% misfire rate (cylinder out of alignment)...
It's currently back at Taurus for the THIRD time. I may have owned it since late November, but I've had it in my hands for about a month, all total.
G&A has been awesome helping me out with the myriad problems.
Edit: WHAT DONUTS?!?!?!? I SAW NO DONUTS!!!!!

Ugh - that's horrible! Seems maybe Taurus should just scrap that one and send you a brand new one at this point.

I have actually had less than stellar experiences there. My girlfriend and I once stood around for twenty minutes (she timed it) waiting for someone to show us a Kahr. It never happened. Another Time we stood infront of the case waiting for anyone to just reach over and hand us a mag holder. No dice. If I go there, its to pop in and grab a box or two of ammo. Anything I can pull off the shelf and I know they have in stock. They are open sundays so thats a plus. Everyone else loves them so maybe its just me?

That would be awesome, and is apparently one possibility, as with the third return for repairs, it goes to a review to determine if it can be repaired, or if it should just be replaced or money refunded. I'm all for those last two possibilities.

Not just you... most people that work theree are cool, but the goofball in the glasses with the flat top (mid 40's) gave me a bunch of crap about asking how easy it was to detail strip a M&P... so I thought "ok no thanks Ill just go to Va arms from here on out" THEY should be kissing MY butt, not the other way around... VA gives me better service in a timely manor, so they get my buisness, even if they are a few bucks more, I am happy to spend extra on a knowledgable friendly staff...

I've had positive experiences with G&AW. I took an NRA course on metallic reloading there. They're really helpful when you get to know them better, but like a lot of gun stores some of the folks can come across initially as being a little contemptuous of your knowledge and opinions. They also carry 5-11 clothes and reloading supplies - which I like.

I visited for the first time yesterday, friendly staff, clean store, nice selection. My wife purchased a holster for her Ruger LCP, but I thought the Gun prices were a little on the high side. I won't count them out just yet, I also like the easy acces to the store in relation to rt 234.

... no adverse reactions to the place, was sent there for possible ammo (9mm) by co-worker, they didn't have any; started up conversation with "Dan" (young fella), he sold me a speed-loader for Mother-in-Law's Taurus 83/85 (I forget shiney lil thing, .380), and a set of ear-plugs shooting glasses combo kit ($35) from Browning (extras for me or whomever at range with me).
What impressed me was that he actually sent me to VAC for ammo - right down the road, when he didn't have to (ended up buying the SIG from there). They had a nice lil SIG P-239 with threaded barrel, fondled it like "doughnuts" but it was single-stack, compact, so didn't get it - now if the wifey walks in with a new hair-dryer or some other female-apparatus - I am going back to the Warehouse to see if the 239 is still there.
They have an "L" shaped counter full of pistols and same on wall behind for shotguns and rifles - not bad selection. Some of the consignments have definitely seen better days. Overall gear is decent and comparible to most others in area.

I'm with you. I always point to the Imelda Marcos collection of shoes Young has when she asks "Baby dont you have enough guns and ammo?"

... warning off-thread remark approaching...
DK, I have MORE calluses this weekend from putting up a closet organizer than from the range - life ain't fair!!!!
... but I was able to put about 500/rds down-range at BRA during the earlyAM "members-only" hours.

Imelda Marcos Collection!!! OH MY God!!! That is the greatest!!! I'll have to hit my wife with that one the next time she whines about the money I've been spending.
Jaded, Sorry I missed you. I had to drop off my wife at Dulles this afternoon at about 12:30 and zipped on down to BRA from there. Spent about an hour and a half there. One of these days we should just rent out one of the sections and have a group shoot! Just have as many as can attend show up!

Naaaaaw, wifey is still a "pup" on that category - only about 20/30 pairs of shoes - she's gots a ways to go, not that I am ENCOURAGING her.... Besides the lower number of shoes in the closet means LESS "ammo" she has to throw at me when I make comments like...
"when you turn 40, Imma trade-you in for two 20's..."
