My priest picked up a Glock 19 for his CC before Xmas, and it shoots to the left. I would like to try and get it squared away for him. Anyone here that has sight pusher they would loan out, would be much appreciated. I'll of course pay for shipping both ways. TIA

The gun shoots to the left. I know cause I benchrested it. About 1-2" left. Elevation is spot on. This was at 7 yards.

Ok, I hate to be a spoilsport but what time of the day did you bench rest the gun and where was the sun in reffrence to the weapon as you were pointing at the target. Any idea what the trigger bar weight for pull is. How many shot's did you fire, and were they all in a pattern on the left. What type of ammunition did you use and will this be the type that he will carry.

Bill, no spoil sport. I'll try to answer all your questions, but I've been around guns and shot long enough to know when one shoots off center.

I hate to be a spoilsport but what time of the day did you bench rest the gun <around 4 in the afternoon, and it was cold> and where was the sun in reffrence to the weapon as you were pointing at the target <doesnt matter, we were shooting under roof, at Clarke Bros>. Any idea what the trigger bar weight for pull is <dont know, what ever it is stock for a G19, prob gen2). How many shot's did you fire <5>, and were they all in a pattern on the left <yes, all on top of each other, about the size of a 50cent piece. I was using a bench rest.>. What type of ammunition did you use <bulk practice ammo, at 7 yrds, type of ammo should not matter much> and will this be the type that he will carry <doubtful, but not sure>.

Greg, I've been around guns since around 1972 and served 6 years active duty with a combat unit. Bill has showed me a thing or two and I hope he shows me a few more things. Plus, not to blow his horn for him, but he knows a couple of things about Glocks. He might be able to pass on some wisdom. Hope you solve the problem...dk

I wasnt trying to be smart, apologies if it came across that way. I'm 52, and have been around guns since I was 13. I regularly shoot IDPA and consistently place near the top of my class. We can all learn a thing or two, and Lord knows I can too. All I was trying to say was I'm not an absolute noob, and think I can tell when a gun needs it's sight adjusted.

Hi Greg - I absolutely didnt mean it that way. Bill wont admit to it, but he's a couple years older than we are, an expert shot, certified armorer, and a nice old man. He lets me shoot from time to time on his range and even fixes my guns once in a while. Although he might not let me come over anymore for calling him an old man...

Honestly though, I'm 50 and also been shooting since I was about 13 but Bill made me feel worse than a noob. I straightened up real quick though after he smacked me in the back of the head once or twice...

I was not trying to make you look bad. I just needed some information to form an opinion on the problem. Yes the weapon is in fact shooting to the left from what you discribe. I don't have a sight tool for a Glock. I always use a BRONZ Rod or punch with a big enough shaft to push the sight without doing any damage. I would in fact try some of the ammunition that he will carry in the weapon as diffrent loads at diffrent weight's and velocity's will leave the barrel and print off from each other. The type that he is going to carry may be dead on even tho it is only 7 yard's distance.(I.E. a 115 grain JHP will print diffrently from a 147 grain full metal jacket or 124 grain Ball ammo ) The time laps in the barrel is much shorter with the 115 grain as opposed to the heaver load wherin the muzzle flip will be higher as the slug take's longer to exit and will therby place the slug at a diffrent place on the target.

We also have to think of the trigger and the weight of said trigger pull. The heavier the pull weight the more tendancy people will have to shoot low and left or too little finger on the trigger will push the weapon low and left. My .40 cal. Glock had a 8 to 9 lb. trigger bar in it when I got it and I changed it to a 3.5 trigger bar. I don't suggest this unless the Priest is a accomplished shooter. This change did make a heck of a diffrence on target with the group size.

I don't know if I in fact have been of any help, altho I do hope so. It is hard to remember when you get as OLD as I am (63)

Bill, no worries. Thanks for the input. I believe I will try the wooden dowl and small hammer trick next time we're at the range. I've read that has yielded good results. I plan on putting two strips of blue painters tape with a line drawn on the strips, to be able to gauge the adjustment. May use the tape to cover the slide/sight up as well, just in case.

The grouping was dead on elevation wise, just a couple inches to the left. I was shooting from a rest, with very deliberate trigger pull. All 5 rounds almost touched each other. So I'm pretty confident the windage just needs to be tweaked a little. I've changed the sights on one of my Sigs, and adjusted the sight on another, using a pusher tool for the Sig, and am very pleased with the results. They are a nice tool to have on hand.

Once we get things spot on with 115g practice ammo, I'll have him try a few S/D rounds and see how they land.

Did you ever get the sight adjusted?

Banging on it works, but it can be difficult to get a small adjustment perfect. I have a tool.
