"HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – A U.S. House Democrat who opposes the health care overhaul announced Tuesday he is defecting to the GOP, another blow to Democrats ahead of the midterm elections.

U.S. Rep. Parker Griffith spoke to reporters at his home in northern Alabama, a region that relies heavily on defense and aerospace jobs.

"I believe our nation is at a crossroads and I can no longer align myself with a party that continues to pursue legislation that is bad for our country, hurts our economy, and drives us further and further into debt," Griffith said as his wife Virginia stood by his side.

The 67-year-old radiation oncologist was narrowly elected last year in a district that includes Huntsville and Decatur. President Barack Obama lost badly there to Republican John McCain."

That story is bogus. Everybody knows there are only 3 democrats in Alabama. Er, now 2... :hysterical:

I bet nana pelosi is peeved over this one. Maybe she'll blow a gasket. Perhaps I'll mail a copy of the story to her along with a roll of duct tape labeled: a little something for your head nana...

It's like Bob Dylan said... "You don't need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"

I guess some politicians have figured out the direction the voters are going and are starting to switch sides. Their morals maybe be gone, but their survival instincts are still intact.

I don't think he has voted for the government on any issue since he was elected. Hard to understand why he ran as a democrat in the first place.

It would seem that nothing can stop the runaway train that is Obamacare. The final vote will be held tomorrow morning and it looks like the dems will get their way.

This will be a historic moment for sure.
