It appears that purchasing and setting up the new tv is the CAUSE of the ND (negligent droppage).

Indeed. They buy a new flat screen along with a nice stand and the old TV goes on a rickety piece of furniture. I'm sure someone will latch onto this and begin a campaign against old TVs just like did in Kalifornia.

I hope not. I tired of the gubment being in everything I do. I want privacy and peace of mind.

They need to do like my Dad did me and I did my kids. If they pull the TV down on themselves once, chances are they'll learn not to do it again.

Henry those were the good ole days when you ran around barefoot and stubbed your toes. Get stung by a bee. No worries. Dad just plastered tobacco on it. Helmets and knee pads for bikes or skates? What the hell were those? My favorite toy was a good stick that looked like a gun. You couldnt recall one of those. A favorite thing to do in the summertime was run behind the mosquito truck as it pumped out insecticide. Getting lost in the cloud was fun. We bumper hitched rides when there was snow on the ground and used big pieces of tin as sleds. There were no consumer protection agencies. No liberal bastion of idiots saying everything was bad for you and the government could help. Those were definitely the good ole days and I miss them dearly.

And my Mr. Potato Head actually had little pins that you stuck in a real potato. Not one of these goofy plastic jobs the kids have now.

I can remember those too. Erector sets with real tools, tonka trucks galore, BB guns, and more...

Well, for reference I have great-grandparents that lived into their 90s. Right now I haven't got a grandparent left and my wife has one who is in her 80s.

The "good-ol'-days" are rhetorical, of course. They are always relative to where you are now.

If I make it to 80 I think I'd be pretty surprised. Heck, if things in this country keep going the way they are now, I think 60 would be an accomplishment.

Of course they are relative. I was just commenting on the tricks our minds play. our mind tends to shove the bad stuff way back into the inner recesses, while the good stuff stays way up front.

I'm puzzled: Other than some wanting to pollute our atmosphere, land and water with no restraints. And those who want to prescribe a drug for every kid, usually a boy, who shows a bit of exuberance. And those who want to feed us stuff loaded with who knows what chemicals; what on earth is going on that might have that kind of effect on your life?

I didn't mean it tongue-in-cheek, just more pragmatic than anything else.

I was one of the (go figure) kids who was prescribed a drug for over-exuberance.

What else is going on in my life? Time will tell. I'm sure a lot of colonials thought they'd get to live in a free country that never did. Compatriots of my ancestors thought that, too. Several hundred thousand of them.

I'm not saying it "will" happen, but I'm not ruling it out. I hope to stay a free man and not have to do anything rash or drastic that might get me killed... like standing up to a despotic self-authorizing government.

Wrt life expectancy I'd rather live a short life free from oppressive government control than a long one chained by onerous laws. I'm pretty smart and well educated. I have no need for the government to tell me and my family something is bad or good for that matter.

Here's an idea. I say we divide the US into 2 sovereign countries. One for people who think like me and the other for those who want the government to run every piece of their lives. Let them all go to the new country and do they as please. Just leave me and those like me alone to live free as our Founders intended. The other country can have all the illegals, welfare abusers, druggies, homos, atheists, hippies, porn kings, etc. Oh, dont forget the liberals and wanna be socialists. Perhaps we could even give them a little foreign aid from time to time.

We tried that once. Almost exactly that.

Right. I forgot. I think it is time to try again. Only this time lets let both sides win. The left gets their own country and the right theirs. I say we let them go ahead and have CA, WA, OR, NY, and anything north of NY. We get the rest...AND the best part is if they want to go from CA to NY they get to pay a toll or go via Canada....if they let them.

P.S.: What on earth is your problem with homosexuals. You act as if they descended on us from the Moon or Mars, when in actuality they are our familymembers, our friends, our co-workers, our neighbors, our co-squad members, our co-NRA members, our co-gun owners forum members, etc. I doubt there is anyone in America who does not have, or had a family member, co-worker, friend, etc., who was not a homosexual. BTW, when do most heterosexuals sit down and decide they will be attracted to the opposite rather than the same sex.

Sorry to butt in here, however, when the current administration is showering countries with money to help with global warming, they are trying to give away health care to everyone at the expense of taxpayers, (while holding meetings behind closed doors, leaving out Republicans, and patting themselves on their back about how "transparent" they are, ignoring the fact that the majority of the US doesn't want this legislation) pushing cap and trade, furthering more government spending, and trying to "level the playing field" by interfering with the free market and now trying to dictate the pay for people working in banks that were bailed out - *who* exactly is demanding conformity??

The role of our federal government as this country was founded was primarily to create a framework for the states to operate and to provide national security...NOT to tell me which doctor I can or can't see, or which health care option I need to be covered by. I've read Ray Bradbury's Farenheit 451, and while an entertaining read, I've yet to read anything that Zephyp has authored that would indicate he wants any control over anyone elses lives - his argument is that we're heading in EXACTLY THAT DIRECTION.

If you're OK with the folks in the blue areas dictating how you live your life, fine. I, however, (and many others) are *not* okay with having this stuff crammed down our throats, and I'm confused at how, if you've actually researched any of the above points, can be A-OK with the government dictating more and more aspects of you life as well? It's not just a red/blue, Democrat/Republican, rich/poor thing - there are lots of people on both sides of those that would like a little less government in their daily life...

Everyone knows homosexuals didn't come from the moon or mars. Aliens are too smart to have them there.
