Apparently, the UK is experiencing a flood of black market firearms, and they don't expect to be able to stop it, for a while.

It's a little odd; it's almost as if criminals were disinclined to allow laws to hamper their various pursuits.

So... If it's possible to smuggle weapons at, apparently, an alarming rate, into the UK, why would the gun-grabbers think that the US would be more successful at keeping guns out of the country? Especially, since these are, generally speaking, the very same people that want to abolish our borders!

when you are engaged in illegal activities you cant goto the police/lawyers to fix your problem. Therefore you are on your own to work out your problem. The guy with the biggest weapon willing to be the most violent wins the case.

If 1000's of lbs of drugs cross the border daily, then they can easily replace a few 100's lbs of drugs with guns/ammo.

What is interesting about this is that the gun-grabbers in the US and around the world know this but don't care. They don't care because it isn't about getting guns out of the hands of criminals, it's about getting guns out of the hands of the law-abiding masses who vastly outnumber the criminals. It doesn't matter if the criminals kill unarmed citizens as that just results in fewer citizens that the socialists have to control.

Socialism isn't for the socialist. Socialism is for the people.

I'm surprised they don't have an problem with illegal manufacturing. It's a lot easier to make a firearm than to smuggle one into the country.

On the topic of making firearms, there is a blog that documents handmade firearms that were confiscated by Law Enforcement Agencies, all over the world. I wish I could remember it; I'd post a link.

I do recall that a number of them were pretty damn sophisticated in appearance, especially since the available production tools likely consisted of little more than file, hacksaw, and channel locks.

Guns exist. That genie ain't going back in the bottle.
