"The bill prohibits the “sale, transfer, production, and importation” of semi-automatic rifles and pistols that can hold a detachable magazine, as well as semi-automatic rifles with a magazine that can hold more than 10 rounds. Additionally, the legislation bans the sale, transfer, production, and importation of semi-automatic shotguns with features such as a pistol grip or detachable stock, and ammunition feeding devices that can hold more than 10 rounds.

Cicilline’s legislation names 205 specific firearms that are prohibited, including the AK-47 and AR-15."

Out of curiosity, what do these clowns propose for the millions of such weapons in circulation at present time..?

If this includes my New AR TWELVE semi auto shotgun.....It's going to take me forever to shoot up the 9K 12 ga. shells I have with my single shot H&R.

i couldn't figure what happens with existing weapons that fall under this typed up insanity. I went to Cicilline's home page .. https://cicilline.house.gov/press-relea ... s-ban-2018 .. and there is a link there .. Assault Weapons Ban of 2018. .. in the opening line it opens up a pdf file of the text of the bill.

At the top of that pdf file it says "To regulate the importation, manufacture, possession, sale or transfer of assault weapons, and for other purposes."

Note the addition of the word "possession" in the pdf file of the text, yet that word isn't in Cicilline's home page. It states "The Assault Weapons Ban of 2018 will prohibit the sale, transfer, production, and importation of:" then a general description of items.

While i don't see this bill, as written, ever being passed ... i can't ignore the fact the rising number of elected officials that are on board with this publicly.

How many more will sign on when the bill gets watered down

I'm with you. I can't imagine this actually becoming law.

In the alternate universe where something like this DID become law, it wouldn't change much for most of us. However, in the event something like this became law, AND the act of confiscating or requiring existing weapons to be surrendered....... that would spark the powder keg, & the 2nd Amendments true meaning would become reality......

I wish now they had heard that case. A lot of things in Judge King's statements I found to be extremely biased and in my opinion should be overruled. "We have no power to extend Second Amendment protection to the weapons of war that the Heller decision explicitly excluded from such coverage," he said. Well i would argue that the founding fathers were inclusive of "weapons of war" based on the Supreme Court ruling in Presser vs Illinois and their definition of a militia in that ruling.

I don't know what it would take for the SC to hear a case on the constitutionality of owning a semi-automatic now

That court ruling is complete BS... That need a to be appealed ASAP!

Part of me says there is no way this bill will see the floor... another part of me says we're about to see a civil war.

You guys have no idea what are you losing, you never knew how is to be "on the other side". Normalcy bias... "nah, it can't happen". Until it does. Like Obamacare.
Almost every single semi-auto is banned in the bill proposed.

I have fired out several emails and made a couple of phone called to our Congress today. It's in one ear and out the other... that's the problem. Congress is interested in keeping power... not the will of the people. And that is why I say there is going to be another civil war if this bill passes. Because its not about law or justice. At that point, our government will have prepped itself to take everything else away, next. The 3%'ers won't stand for it.
