Virginia Gun Owners Forum - VGOF

I know that Virginia Permits are valid in West Virginia, but are there any special things that one needs to
know about the gun laws in West Virginia? Any quirks similar to the Conceal v. OC in restaurants like in Virginia?

IIRC, only WV residents can OC in WV.

I understand that to be the case also. The WV Attorney General has published a pamphlet stating it is ok for nonresidents to OC but the WVSP has stated it is not and they will arrest a nonresident if caught OC'ing. Obviously they have something they need to work out.

Thats not good as it could jeopardize our reciprocity agreement if WV stands firm on that. AFAIK reciprocity is generally agreed to if both states have similar gun laws. A good example is that Alabama has some weird law about not being able to CC in a vehicle. Hence, no reciprocity with Virginia. Could be other issues too.

I suppose since the issue is just addressing "conceal permits", then Open Carry is a whole other animal
that doesn't really apply.

Shouldn't have any effect on reciprocity. My understanding is that South Carolina has no OC and Florida allows OC only under certain conditions (hunting, fishing, camping) but we still have reciprocity with both of those states. OC shouldn't have a bearing on CC.

Good deal. I was not aware of that. I do CC in SC and FL but pay no attention to OC laws.
