Weekend before last the wife and I went up to Bass Pro on Saturday to get a couple things. We noticed as we were pulling in that BRA across the street had no vehicles in the parking lot. After leaving BP we rode over and checked it out. There was a notice on the door that the locks had been changed and hinting at a lack of funds. I called the NOVA location that day, as well as a couple of days throughout last week to no avail.

I ended up having to place a dispute with my credit card company last week as that just so happened to be the week they were drafting membership fee's. Tonight while eating dinner, I see on the local news that the landlord is suing BRA for a ton of money.

So, long story short, I guess they aren't reopening. It's a shame because it was a REAL nice range. And now I have to go back to CSA, which is a lot further away, costs more, and is not nearly as nice.


Anyway, just thought I would share...

Yeah, we've been discussing this on some other gun groups. We think the landlord is gonna take it over, and reopen. OR if they're smart? Get Bass Pro/Cabela's to buy it, and make it a substation for their gun purchases.

That thought had crossed my mind as well but I don't know if a big box store like BP would be interested or not. Green Top could be an option as well.


However, I said from day one when that range opened that I didn't think there would be enough business to keep it going. I know I never have seen more than maybe a dozen people in there at one time, more often than not more like half dozen. And people like me who just pay the membership fee and don't buy anything from them probably weren't helping either.

I think A LOT of folks that go to both BR and GT are more rural than people think. Probably either have their own land to shoot on or know someone or are a member of a hunting club with a range or outdoor range. That's my theory.


Anyway here's to hoping someone takes over and it gets reopened. IF it does happen it probably won't be anytime soon though...

I would rather have seen Blue Ridge use the money to revamp the range in Chantilly which is desperate needed.

with near by ranges like Silver eagle, NRA and ESS, BRA has a long way up to go to be equal to their competition.

... Both in facilities and services, IMHO.
