Well, This Is Spiffy

Yesterday, a bill was introduced, that would nullify state level control that exceeds Federal standards.

Pass this, then we need a bill that nullifies Federal gun control laws that exceeds Constitutional standards.

That would be nice if it passes. I wonder how that would impact carry laws, both openly and concealed? There are no carry laws that apply outside of federal land/buildings.
And yes... The Gun Control Act, the NFA, and all the baggage associated with them need to go. They do nothing to prevent crime. They just drive up the cost of ownership.

But how does that affect State's rights? I don't mind the Fed nullifying laws that repress freedom, but taking OVER those laws doesn't feel any better.
Depending on whose in office, depends on whose enforcing.

I don't know that it does affect States Rights, in this particular instance. The States have no right to enact laws that violate the 2nd Amendment, anyway (Though, both State and Federal governments do so, regardless.) So, I think that this is a step in the right direction.
Assuming that this can pass, this would kill a large number of oppressive laws in states like New York, California, etc.
Besides, it's not like the Fed will be taking over anything, anymore than they already have. If the Fed wants to make federal gun laws more oppressive, they will do so, without this legislation. Hell, they already have, in the past. Consider suppressors and full-auto rifles, for example.

I think of this law as akin to Virginia's preemption law that strips localities authority to override State law, only at a Federal level and regarding States. As noted previously, this law SHOULD not be necessary, but...

You are right, states rights doesn't allow them to violate a protected enumerated right. Sadly the 17th amendment theoretically eliminated most of the powers of the individual states.
