'I didn't think it'd be so easy': Engineer gets into a 'locked' smart GUN with just $15 of magnets in simple hack

Rather than quote the story:
Synopsis:
1. He was able to fire the gun without the "required" security watch.
2. He was able to fire the gun with the security watch 15 feet away (ie able to shoot the legitimate user)
3. He was able, with an radio jammer, prevent the legitimate user from firing the gun.

I call that a "hat trick".

So much for the gun being smart.

Easy fix for one of the problems: the owner carries magnets to overcome radio jamming...oh, wait...

What an epic fail. I have been complaining about this for years, but never had access to one to test it. I am not shocked.

For it to be FCC compliant, the gun must not cause any harmful interference to other electronics devices and MUST accept interference from other devices, even if it leads to undesirable results.

I read this too, and being that I work in Info Sec, this was just plain funny to me, as Marc said it would have been fun to get our hands on one and see how long it took to disable or defeat all the "Smart" features.

My take: A smart gun is a regular gun in the hands of a smart guy.
