In a general consensus, there are assjacks in every segment of society.
That said, I find it amusing that the Progressive/Communists feel it's "...okay to commit violence against those they find unjust..." Uh-huh... Just like every fascist regime in history. OH! And the attacker was from NEW JERSEY, and did the attack in VIRGINIA!
Yet again, that we should vet all carpetbaggers, and transplants. HAHAHAH

Ya know, it really isn't about where you're from, it's about how you were raised. I was born and raised in New Jersey, left when I was 18 to serve in the Navy, and went back briefly to get my act together. My wife was born and raised in Pennsylvania and has been working here in VA since she graduated. Neither of us consider ourselves yankees, much less damn yankees. We both love it here in VA and have made it our home. My wife's father moved his roofing business to Richmond from Lancaster, PA to escape the unions and get control of his business back. His son, my brother-in-law, continues to run that business and his son will take over when he retires.
These two "yankee" families have contributed much to Virginia and will continue to contribute to this great state. We call ourselves Virginians, and we are Virginians.

Ya know, if a Northerner moves here and assimilates, then all well and good. If they creep in, crap, and don't creep out, then yeah, damned Yankees.

My Grandfather was born and raised in Brooklyn. His nephew, my cousin (and one of the precious few relatives on my Mothers side of my family that I still like) still has a little of that Northern accent. At this point, most Virginians probably have "Yankee" relatives, so I wouldn't get too offended when we throw the term around.
You know, my Brooklyn Grandfather was an excellent Virginian. He was better educated on Virginian history and culture, than most people who were raised here. He also had a portrait of Robert E. Lee hanging on the wall. And, he was known to complain about the Damned Yankees.
