Thinking about doing something foolish.

I didn't get into 1911's till late into the game. Since then, I've picked up two of them. A Kimber, and a Charles Daly.
I like them both.... but.....
I would like to have matching pairs of Ruger SR1911's, with serial numbers in order.
Talk me off the ledge. HAHAHAHHA

Well said. Add in a twin shoulder holster rig. And some fourteen round backup magazines.

OK, go ahead and get those Ruger's or you could really jump off the edge and order a pair of Reeder customs, Ed Browns, Wilson's. OK I'll stop now. Hey how do you like your Daly? I picked up one several years back and like it a lot since I replaced the recoil spring, and the barrel bushing with a tighter fitting one. Other than those simple changes it has been a very good gun.

making 1911's work has been keeping gunsmiths busy for over 100 years.

Personally owning 2 of the same thing is a little boring to me but I can see the appeal in a matching set.

I was a 1911 guy for about 30 years. All of them worked. All of them were plenty accurate enough for me and I can be picky about that. All mine were Colt 1911's of one model or another.
Then I started messing with the smaller calibers. I went through the several brands (Browning, Glock, XDM and M&P) looking for guns that were as accurate and reliable as my Colt pistols. I ended up with CZs. I bought a P07 probably 5 years ago now and since then it's been one CZ after another.
I take family to the range, they shoot mine, then they're getting CZs of their own. Both sons and my wife.
At first I wanted a gun that would meet my needs for reliability, accuracy and fit my hands and that I wouldn't mind getting dirty while doing yard work, scratched up while crawling around under the car in the garage or wet (rusty) when carried for long hours of fishing on a hot summer day. I didn't want to put my old Colts through that. To many good memories to gouge them up (metal and grips) in the dirt, gravel/concrete.
A good 1911 is wonderful. A good CZ will shoot just as good, be cheaper to buy (well, some models anyway, CZ does make some awful expensive target guns) and they are fun to shoot.
After typing all that, let me say that when my nephew was looking for a 1911 we looked at a Ruger or three. He bought a SA but I would have bought that Ruger stainless steel 1911. It was a pretty pistol and Ruger has a good name when it comes to making reliable handguns and standing behind their warranties.

Love my charles daly. Bought it used, and whomever had it before me? Did work on it well enough that it shoots as well as the kimber.
My thoughts for a matched set? When I die? After all the custom stuff done, someone is gonna be HAPPY!

That's what I like about this bunch. SOME of you have good taste in firearms. A few years back, I did exactly what has been suggested. Bought a brace of Reeder Custom Guns' 1911s to go in my double shoulder holster rig. They came with a double small-of-the-back holster, but I've always viewed them as a giant PITA. The "Judge & Jury" are a matched set; each pistol has "Judge" on one side of the grip and "Jury" on the other. One side of the slides are engraved thusly: "Fear no man whatever his size, for I will equalize". I figured if a man's gonna be ostentatious, he ought to go whole hawg.
Got a Ruger SR1911 stainless, too. Wish I had two of them.

Ruger SR1911 stainless YUP! I compared the base model alongside with the target model, and the only difference are panels, ambi-safety, and sights.
Everything else is the same.
And I replace panels grips any way, so they could come bare, and I'd be okay...
I love that Charles Daly, and I'm a'ight with my Kimber, but just having matching pair with sequential serial numbers, and the same mods?
I would probably make a gun belt/holster combo for it specifically.
(sigh) I SHOULD NOT... but... I'm gonna see what the prices would be.

The Reeder set I got DID NOT have consecutive serial numbers. So if that's a big deal to you, maybe you'd better specify that in writing when you order.

Also, in addition to the matching pair, you should get a mini 1911(as a "mini-me" to the full size set), as a backup.
May as well go all out with it.

I had to walk away from this beauty the other day at my LGS. It felt so good in the hand and so pretty to boot. Then i saw the price tag. Whoa. I have a huge tax bill to pay so, not now.

I actually like the idea of a matched set of 1911's Rev ! I liked the movie "Faceoff" with the matched set of Gold 1911's....Buffalo Bill carried a matched pair of .45 Colts and he was VERY COOL !!!

Would enjoy seeing some pic's when you make the purchase !
