DU hacked on election day?

Either the Democratic Underground is in denial or someone hacked them.
Of course they are blaming a Trump supporter.
IMHO most of us are more supportive of the First Amendment than most democrats.
Here's what I found when I went to their site at 0330 EST, 11/9/16.
It's still up now, 3 hours later.

UPDATE 11/9/2016 1:00PM ET

We have now come to believe it is possible that the hacker may have been able to gain access to certain member information on our server, including: Usernames, email addresses, and IP addresses. Passwords were not as easily accessible, and at this point we do not know if it was possible for the hacker to access them. (Further note that passwords on DU are "hashed" and saved in a cryptographically scrambled format rather than as plain text, so if the hacker could access a member's password information they would not have direct access to the password itself -- only to the hash.)

We can say for certain that donor data, such as credit card numbers or addresses, were not compromised because that information is handled by PayPal and never passes through to our servers.

We are not going to bring our website back online until we believe that we are no longer vulnerable to attack and our members' user information is secure. Unfortunately we do not know how long this process will take, and it could possibly take days.
Why would a "Trump supporter" want all that information? They just got hacked by someone Phishing for member info.

so its going to be offline forever? nothing on the net is invulnerable, or secure.

Nothing but opportunity to point blame on a rival. If it were GM they would claim Ford or Chrysler. Who else would someone blame on election day?

I thought it was DUCKS UNLIMITED.

For a minute there, I thought we had a real crisis on our hands. :hysterical:

As for the comment that the "Passwords" are stored in hashed form, and therefore would not be useful, guess these jackasses never heard of what the security and hacking communities refer to as a pass the hash attack. You don't need the passwords, jut the hashes, send the hash, it's checked against guess what the hash, and if it matches, your in. Morons. It is actually a bit more involved than that, but you get the gist. If I were to say capture a number of password hashes during a standard security assessment or penetration test, they would most certainly be used to gain additional access to the target systems for multiple reasons. This is just one of many steps in a normal security test, or attack.

or a rainbow table, esp. if a poor hashing algorithm was used

I don't think anyone at DU could have held themselves together long enough to edit the music video put up during the hack. Oh, how there must have been heads exploding!

Yes, I see there are others in the business here. A decent set of tables and game over in quick fashion. And Yes Spanish, they would have lost their minds before they figured it out.

Still laughing too hard to finish my complete thought.
