Just to put this in prospective BB62 (his handle on the Ohioans For Concealed Carry forum), Jeffry Smith is a serious gun rights advocate and has been involved with several demonstrations, etc. in Ohio, Indiana, and who knows where else.
Jeff is a large individual, I'm 6'2" and, now, 230 lbs and he makes me feel small.
He HAS lost a significant amount to weight since the last time I saw him in person.
His handle, BB62, refers to the USS New Jersey (BB-62)

When he's working for college campus carry, Jeff is definitely a "big man on campus".

Any way, Ohio has state preemption of all local gun laws.
Ohio Revised Code 9.68 is short, to the point and is the ONLY place ANYWHERE in Ohio state law where open carry is mentioned. Open carry is, and always has been, legal on the state level. This preemption law has been fought by a couple of cities all the way to the Ohio Supreme Court and has been upheld by the court. Notice who has to pay the attorney fees.

His current projects are involved with divisions of local governments that can not, by law, disallow carrying of firearms on their property or vehicles. This is most, if not all, transit authorities in the state.

I have a mental picture of three CPD officers looking up at this, very calm and pleasant, huge, armed, man that's quite amusing.

Dayton public transit (RTA) dislikes lawfully carried guns

I find these stories amusing because of the uncomfortable feelings the bureaucrats get when their little world is successfully challenged.

I love to read of the successes of people like Jeff, Ohioans for Concealed Carry, VCDL, and others.
They do not, IMHO, get enough recognition.

RTA challenged for firearms policy, calling bus hub private propety

DAYTON (WRGT) - Dayton's RTA is being challenged for its firearms policy and for calling the downtown bus hub private property.

Fox 45 has been investigating both claims, after a Cincinnati area firearms instructor and civil rights activist brought the issues to the attention of the RTA board.

The RTA says openly, by using extensive signage, that the downtown hub is private property.

Jeffry Smith says making that claim and claiming they can impose and no weapons policy, is breaking Ohio law.

"It's absolutely not private property it's public property owned by the Miami Valley regional transit authority," Smith said.

They're going to get their heads handed to them. Unfortunately it's the tax payers that will end up paying the attorneys.
