Non-resident sales

I'm military currently stationed in MD. I'm a FL resident with a FL resident carry permit. Since MD seems to have some pretty strict gun laws I'm exploring purchasing in neighboring states. My question is, am I able to purchase in VA? Specifically handguns, because I know long guns tend to not have many restrictions.

Handgun sales across state lines are federally prohibited.

purchase in VA?
yes, absolutely.

BUT

the transfer to you will have to take place at a dealer in MD.

Purchase, and transfer of possession, are 2 separate acts, one can be done across states, the other cannot.

Bob is lumping both acts together, and they are not required to be.

Point here is that being in Maryland, you will have to transfer the firearm to an FFL in Maryland, and in doing so, will have to follow Maryland State law as well as federal law for the transfer. So, I assume that you will only be able to purchase something on the MD state "allowed handguns" list or whatever they call it.

Yeah, that crap. So purchase what I can in MD, go back to FL for everything else. Got it.

yep, MD is a not so great place for people who are interested in Firearms.

And many of the duty stations are sufficiently over the border, that living in VA or PA, isn't really an option.
